“Our Second Home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

Back once again to celebrate our Bdays, and once again after several previous stays, not dissapointed! Special thanks to Will and his amazing ladies there for going above and beyond for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our Bday present! No detail overlooked , beautifully decorated for the holidays, roaring fireplaces, bountiful breakfasts, centrally located to wonderful restaurants and unique boutiques, complimentary off street parking, there is no better gift than a Francis Malbone stay. This month, exceptional value on holiday gift certificates for a future stay, should be on everyones gift list! Love this place and its people, to us the perfect gift. See you all again very soon, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Francis Malbone House...........

Room Tip: Take a look at website photos and descriptions, very detailed to help you select, look for the feat...

The b&b is a beautiful structure but I found my standard queen room small and the bathroom a challenge to move around. So very tiny and with just a shower. My husband and I had to take turns getting in and out. Also my bed, which was lovely to look at (very tall and inviting) had a terrible mattress. It was very bouncy and the bed creaked at every move. Did not get a good night rest. Breakfast was a nice fare but not over the top. Breakfast room, however, was lovely with a large fireplace. Hard for me to justify cost against what I actually got. Was left annoyed not relaxed. Did not make use of afternoon tea, which I thought was a nice touch.

Room Tip: Make sure you check if your room has a bathtub. Usually a good sign as to size.

We appreciate your feedback on your stay at our inn. The Francis Malbone House is a 1760 antique historic inn. Yes, some of our rooms are smaller than others- this is reflected in our rate structure. You reserved one of our Gardenside rooms for your stay which are our smallest (least expensive) rooms.
We worked with the space we had in the 1760 main house to accommodate a private bath within each room. The room you reserved is a quaint room with a fireplace, high ceilings, beautiful mouldings and wide plank floors.Yes, it is a "one person at a time" bathroom.
Please give us another chance- on us! We'll give you a bigger bathroom!!

Once again, a recent visit to Newport and of course a stay at The Francis Malbone House.
Not only the weather was great after a devastating week on Long Island with the Sandy storm but the hospitality and warmth of the people at The Malbone House was as always top notch.
With friendly greetings from everyone and personal care to make sure it was as comfortable as possible, we couldn't ask for anything better. This is one place I highly reccomend for anyone who wants to feel like a family type enviroment. I will be returning soon and when I do, it will always be the Great Francis Malbone Bed and Breakfast House which there is no other to compare. Thank you all there and it was a most fantastic visit.

We love the Francis Malbone. We came here when we were dating, engaged and after we were married. Will and the staff are just the best! The breakfast is to die for! We came here in January 2012 during a snowstorm. It was just beautiful and welcoming. We love it!

Sometimes when you travel you are fortunate, or lucky, or blessed, or whatever you want to call it and you find a place that gets everything right. The Francis Malbone House falls into this very select category. Although this is the first review we have written for the Malbone House (and by "we" I mean my wife and I, not the royal 'we') we have stayed there on several occasions, most recently over our wedding weekend. Anyone who is married understands the stresses involved with wedding planning and execution and the importance of a space of quiet and comfort that abates, if not completely casts off, anxieties and worries. The Malbone House provided this in spades. The stunning decor of classic New England style settles guests into an era, a history preserved and embraced by Newport itself. Will, the proprietor, maintains the details of the House's long lineage, but does not ignore the need for modern creature comforts. Truly accommodating in every sense of the word, Will and his staff impart a traveling experience that cannot be matched anywhere in Newport, or many other cities for that matter. We stayed with many of our family members from all walks of life and each of them raved of their stay at Francis Malbone. Breakfast and afternoon tea are prepared by an outstanding chef everyday of the week, and the location could not be better with every destination accessible by foot. Any requests for reservations or activity information are provided by a staff member at all hours of the day and late into night. We could not have asked for anything more to make our wedding weekend perfect, but clearly it is not solely an inn for wedding parties. Anytime of year, for vacation, celebration or business, The Francis Malbone House raises the bar to almost unattainable heights. We will be returning soon, and for years to come, as it is the only inn for us.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms, but rooms on the backside of the house are quieter.
