My husband and I chose this inn for its terrific location--away from the hustle and noise of the wharfs/downtown. We found this lovely inn to be very clean and well kept, nautical and antique theme throughout. Teak furniture on the deck, a refrigerator with ice maker and glasses available in the dining room, wicker furniture and swing on the front porch, a small but quaint sitting room off the dining room. We chose the Brass Room for the king size bed and sitting area. This particular room does not have a virtual tour or pictures available on the website. The bed is comfortable with down pillows and crisp linens. The bathroom is small but the closet large (I would suggest that the inn add luggage racks to the spacious closet along with a few hangers, there is a set of drawers in the closet). The basket in the bathroom contained soaps, shampoo, conditioner , and make up remover cloths bearing the inn's name and several packets of Oil of Olay night cream and 1 lotion. The room came with robes and is equipped with an air conditionor unit and a ceiling fan. The inn is about a 15 minute walk to Thames and then a 15 minute walk to the cliff walk entrance and the beach. A ten minute walk to The Elms. The very clean and safe yellow line bus/trolley goes right by the inn--this line goes out to the end of the cliff walk and through the mansions. If you want to walk like we do, this is a great choice. Still, if you prefer to drive into town, the inn's off street parking is a much better deal than $17 a night at the Marriot. Unlike inns on Spring Street or Bellevue, this inn has a charming backyard and a terrific deck. Due to the momentus event of the arrival of their firstborn, breakfast our first morning was a buffet--but quite good. The second day we had a choice of three "entrees" but the yogurt, pastries, fruit were missing. Our belgian waffles still were excellent and accompanied by some fruit. I'm sure it was an oversight as they were quite busy with a life changing event but there were no refreshments out. As the inn is a distance from shops (a plaza up Bellevue and a 7-11 and package store down a few blocks) I would think a basket of apples, plate of cookies, and some iced tea might be a good addition in the late afternoon. I might also suggest a microwave on the second floor to heat water for tea. This inn's website is informative and helpful. We hope to return to this inn soon.
