I just stayed at the beautiful Kingscote room in the Wynstone Inn this past weekend along with my girlfriend. We are both in our early 20's, and absolutely loved this elegant and graceful B&B. The bed was among the most comfortable I've experienced, our personal bathroom (as advertised large jacuzzi bath, large shower, music...) was delightful, and the location was all that we could ask for. The service was incredible. If you are frustrated with feeling like just another room number, stay here and let Michelle and Co. take care of your every need. I urge anyone that is considering this particular Inn - as well as this particular room - to make the trip, and experience it for themselves.

In addition, any negative reaction to this Inn, and/or the Kingscote room - in my estimation -can only be a reaction to the B&B style itself. If you are looking for commercial / generic, stay at the Holiday Inn. If you are looking for quant / romantic - stay here.

If you are looking for a centally located (within walking distance of attractions, restaurants and shops) well kept and friendly bed and breakfas then you shoudl look at the Wynstone. they have a dantastic breakfast that should not be missed and accomodations that are fantastic for the price. Don't bother with the expensive places they have it all....we stayed in the Kingscote room about 3 yrs ago and are going back again this sumemer (more reviews when we return)

make sure you look here before considering the higher priced places!!

We were upgraded by the owner to the most exclusive hotel of the four Inns of Newport, The Wynstone, in July for very, very little money. The location cannot be beat, right near Thames Street, but far enough away so as to not hear the traffic and nighlife noise. We stayed in the "Elms Room" and were warned that the room was small but the bathroom was exquisite. I would agree with both descriptions. It was very clean and quiet but for the price we paid in the "high season", I felt the hotel and room definitely needed some improvements, i.e., carpet was old and stained and the outside of the house needed some "new life". Linens and bed were above average. Also, don't miss the breakfast served downstairs which was fantastic.

The Wynstone in Newport, Rhode Island is not the luxury Inn they claim to be. We went to celebrate my 30th birthday and were so dissappointed by our accomodations. The name of the room was the Kingscote. The Inn needs to major maintenance and restoration done to it. To me the appearance as a whole is very important. In our room we had a broken chair and a piece of wood that kept on falling out of the closet everytime my husband took a piece of clothing out. Our sheets were never changed and we had to ask for them to replace our towels as they tooked the used ones but did not place clean ones back. There were also two holes in our sheets and a stain in the sheet that covers the box spring. To add to this, there were feathers coming out of the bed. The air conditioner was right next to the bed making my husband, whom I asked to sleep on that side, very cold. The air was directly blowing on his face about 4 inches away. The wood by the door and around it is totally chipped all over the bottom and sides. The pictures on the website are very misleading and the room is much smaller than it looks. We had our 16 month-old baby with us and were very crampted after opening the small playpen. There was supposed to be plenty of room but that was hardly the case. I will try to post pictures but if you are looking for luxury, keep looking. This is not the place to stay. You are better off at Castle Hill Inn, the Viking hotel or the Vanderbilt.
