“Classic B&B with loads of atmosphere and friendly personnel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2010

We enjoyed a lovely room with adjoining sitting room, all for a remarkably reasonable price. Our accommodations were charming yet had modern conveniences - we felt special throughout our brief stay. The location was convenient to seeing the sights and visiting near-by restaurants. We relaxed on the porch with a delicious home made cookie in the afternoon, and breakfast pastries were outstanding. Given this little getaway was a treat to console us from a cancelled trip to Scotland (yes, that volcano!) we felt a warm scone and friendly conversation with our charming hostess was a comforting experience!

Stayed two mid-week nights at Belle View Inn to show charming Newport to my wife & daughter after attending Navy Officer Candidate School there in 1981. Great stay at the Inn and we thoroughly enjoyed the comfort & convenience of Belle View's location & hospitality. Very clean room, tasty continental breakfast each morning and just a lovely place to come back to after a day of mansion-hopping, cliff-walking and fine dining (White Horse Tavern and Scales & Shells are highly recommended). Enjoy and you will wish to return to Newport and the Belle View Inn soon!
Sincerely, The Coleman family

We stayed at the Belle View Inn in August but I am only just getting a chance to write a review.

What else can I say but that this was probably the best place we have ever stayed and we have stayed in a lot of places in Europe and USA!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Lorna who welcomed us and showed us to our room. She offered information on where to eat and directions- we ate from one of the restaurants that she recommended on our second night and were certainly not disappointed!

We came to Newport for the Folk Festival and as it was our first time there we were a little clueless, but Lorna gave us directions to where to get the ferry to the festival (a pleasant 20 minute walk) and she also gave us sun tan lotion (trust me, as we are Irish this was invaluable!) and also gave us chairs to take with us to the festival. This was going well beyond our expectations- Lorna certainly makes you feel like one of the family!

The room itself was spotlessly clean, with a separate living area with TV, fridge and table to eat at. The bed was very comfortable and a good night's sleep was essential to ensure an early start in the mornings!

Breakfast was delicious- cereals, juice, fresh fruit and items ordered direct from the bakery just for you. An excellent start to the day- enough to keep us going until the evening!

We didn't have a car and when we were leaving a cab was arranged to take us to the bus station- not a long walk, but we had luggage!

In closing, I would definitely recommend the Belle View Inn and look forward to staying there again!

It is a very beautiful Inn. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They recommended a beautiful restaurant at the Castle Hill Inn and helped us with the reservations. Thank you for making our stay memorable. I highly recommend this inn and can't wait to return!

Stayed at the Belle view one night. Our room was very clean and I liked having the 2 rooms (bedroom and sitting room) with 2 TV's to hang out in. The bathroom was a nice size however the water pressure in the shower was poor but nothing major to complain about. The rooms had numerous windows which were great until the next morning when the delivery truck of the supermarket across the street had a delivery at 6 am and when the lawn mowers started next door at the tennis hall of fame at 8 am. There is a air conditioner in each room and perhaps if we had them on the noise level wouldn't have seemed so bad. The owner of this B&B was very gracious and offered a lot of great info. All in all a nice B&B in a good location to the cliff walk and mansions but for us the noise in the morning was too much.

We travelled with two couples who each shared one of the suites. The rooms were very spacious and well maintained. The continental breakfasts were very tastety with muffins, turnovers, bagels and excellent coffee. The location was central to all parts of Newport especially the International Tennis Hall of Fame. We had a great stay and would return the next time we visit Newport.

This was the cleanest accomodation we have experienced. The room, bathroom, glasses and everything were spotless. Lorna was a great help in planning our activities and giving us tips on what to see and when. The patio and yard added a nice touch to the atmosphere of the Inn.
