“Newport Tower”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

After watching the show "Unearthing America" with Scott Wolter, it had me interested in seeing the tower first hand. Knowing how our country was formed and founded, really had me interested in seeing the site in person, also I believe its one of the oldest structures in North America, man made that is. Yes, the park is very small, but was informative. I agree, the tour office doesn't open till 10 am, so I didn't get a chance to wait for it to open...wish they were open a couple of hours earlier. So, I enjoyed walking around the town, there are some interesting buildings surronding the park, so I think it was worthwhile to visit, even with no guide. A must see for anyone interested in our history of America.

“Mystery tower”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

There are several theories about the origins of the Touro Park tower. Worth the time to find the park and see the tower. It may be the oldest structure in North America, pre-dating Christopher Columbus by almost 100 years. My only regret was that the Historical Society office across the street was closed. I would have been interested in their exhibits. This should be the #1 attraction in Newport. Much more significance that a bunch of tacky shops and gaudy mansions.

“Stop to see the infamous Newport Tower”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

This park is very small and on a sidestreet but it's worth stopping by to check out the Newport Tower. Many have guessed at it's origins ranging from Knights Templar to Vikings to Ancient Aliens. It's worth a look out for you to surmise your own opinion. It was recently the focus of a show on the history channel which was also interesting.

“A definite stop on your Newport visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2011

As our lantern tour guide said, cross off one of the mansions on your list and see this instead. The oldest surviving synagogue in the US. Historically significant with a touching story.
