I'm still reeling over the wonderful time we had in Newport, RI! We returned home yesterday after spending two days at The Bayberry Inn. For once, a B&B was as wonderful as its website! The Bayberry Inn is an 1850's Spanish-style Mansion that has been renovated as a beautiful B&B. We stayed in The Ana Hunter Suite which boasts a king-sized bed, a huge bathroom, and a queen-sized bed in a seperate room. Each room completed with glorious bedding, numerous decorative pillows, and working fireplaces. The main bedroom is decorated to the nines with amenities such as wine glasses, a crystal ice bucket on a tray with an opener, large, lush towels in the bathroom rolled into a pretty basket on the over-sized vanity. My daughter enjoyed a long bath in the deep, jacuzzi tub, while my husband and I relaxed reading in lovely leather chairs, our feet resting on the matching ottoman. (We also lit our gas fireplace with the touch of a remote control.) We were especially happy that we chose the Bayberry Inn because we spent a great deal of time there due to inclimate weather. Hardly did we feel stuck indoors, rather in the lap of luxury!
On both days of our stay, we enjoyed afternoon tea at 4:00, served in a lovely living room, decorated beautifully with a firelpace and built-in bookcases. Our choice of tea (hot water in a fancy tea server) was accompanied by homemade goodies. In fact, everything at the Bayberry was homemade! For breakfast we were served pancakes on the first day, and homemade waffles topped with baked apples on the second day. Each meal also included homemade bread and muffins, delicious coffee and orange juice. My daughters enjoyed drinking the juice out of the wine glasses set on the tables. We all loved the yogurt and crunchy granola parfaits! As with everyting else at The Bayberry, the breakfast setting was perfect: a formal dining room with high ceilings, beautiful silver teapots in glass corner hutches, Rod Stuart singing some of the oldies sucha s "When I Fall in Love," and a wonderful buffet. Paula, our hostess, couldn't have been more accommodating, asking if we needed anything else, and helping us by printing out directions to a restaurant we were going to that evening.
If you are looking to share in some of the elegance you will be viewing on some of Newport's Mansion Tours, then The Bayberry Inn is a perfect choice!!!
