“Good overall value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

I took my family to the Red Parrot after a sailing cruise and were very pleased with the service and overall experience. It is certainly not an upscale pub, but worth a look. They have a wide variety on the menu, and a fun atmosphere right in the heart of Newport!! Try it out for yourself.

“Very Good Appetizers - Not So Good Entres”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

We went with a group of ten friends.

My wife and I shared our appetizers. I ordered the mussels and clams in a broth. My wife ordered the fried green tomatoes. Both of us enjoyed our starters.

For my main course I splurged on the $33 Lobster Stuffed Strip Steak. I ordered the steak medium rare. It came medium. The lobster stuffing was just so-so. I ate it, but I certainly was not thrilled with the preparation.

My wife ordered the Lobster Quesadilas. She described it as ordinary.

This was not the worst meal we had in Newport, but it clearly was not the best. If I return, I'll steer away from the expensive main course meals. My level of dissatifaction only magnifies when I pay a lot for a less than terrific meal.

“Good food, close to public parking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

The menu was extensive so was hard to decide what to have! Our server was friendly and accommodating but service overall was quite slow. So I'd just say don't go here if you are in a rush.
The food was prepared well and quite good.
I'd return here for another meal while visiting Newport. Park in the public lot (pay) down the road and walk up past the shops. Hard area to find on-street parking.

“Good choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Had a lite dinner here while in town. The menu has many options on it for everyone. I had a shrimp tapas to start. Shrimp were good size and not over cooked. Really had good flavor to the whole dish. Had the Mako shark bites which were great. If you have a chance to try mako, try it. It's a very good and you would think it's swordfish. Service was very good and everyone was very friendly.

“Best place in Newport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

Not sure how this isn't rated in t least the top 10. The variety on the menu is phenomenal. Seafood, salads, steaks, quesadillas, pizza, pasta, carribean. And everything is outstanding. Big portions. Great service. Great location. Great drink menu. Can't beat it
