“Tennis in the afternoon and the The Red Parrot for dinner.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

For the past few years our trip to the Hall of Fame Tennis Tournament is concluded with dinner at the Red Parrot. One of our group comes to Newport often and recommended it to us a few years ago. Now it has become a tradition. This year instead of waiting for a table, we decided to eat at the bar to save time. Bartender became our waiter and did an acceptable job. Started with drinks, but thought that the Red Parrot Amber Ale was a little too warm for my liking especially on a very hot day. If we were in England, I would have understood, but surprisingly warm for this side of the Atlantic. I had blackened Mahi topped with fresh pineapple, mango salsa and coconut rice. Very tasty and definitely would have it again. The other two in our group had lobster quesadillas and a three cheese quesadillas. Although these were technically appetizers, the serving size was large enough for a few quesadillas as leftovers. Every one was happy with their choices and we left with no room for desert. We will be back next year after another day of tennis.

“Dinner was great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

The food and price were very good. Service was fast and lady server kept our drinks filled. We ate at the third floor (btw no elevators). with the view of the ocean. Nice. The food had pretty good serving size. We had leftovers. The location of the place is central to the wharf. walkable to many sites.

“Average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Not much to say about the Red Parrot. The food was fine, if fine is what you look for in a meal. The menu was extensive though uninspired and the food simply okay. The lobster nachos landed like a lead balloon in my stomach and the steamers were, meh. Nice decor, but again, uninspiring.

“Never really been impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

This place is a staple in Newport because of it's location and size. I've never really been impressed and I've been multiple times. Just get a burger and a beer and you won't be unhappy. The hawaiian burger is the best.

They have cucumber martini's here - my girlfriend likes those.

“Great lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We stopped in for lunch on a Monday. The place was very busy! It took quite awhile for our waitress to bring us our sodas. We ordered our food and waited. My husband got the blackened mahi mahi sandwich and I got the coconut shrimp. Both were very good and I would recommend them! The food was delicious, so if you are okay with waiting for awhile I would say that the food is worth it!
