“Wonderful Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

I second the previous reviewer....lots of good improvements made. We are owners and my one pet peeve always was the security at the Inn. Prior to this anyone was able to walk into the building - even from the outside deck. Now, key cards are needed 24/7 to enter into the lobby. Rooms/hallways have been painted. Furniture and bedding updated (gone are those crummy flowered bedspreads - replaced with clean, white comforters). Flat screen TV's in both rooms. Curtains replaced and blinds now on smaller windows. A few minor housekeeping issues were quickly resolved by staff. Staff always pleasant and helpful. Way to go Wyndham -at least I see where my maintenance fees are going!!!!!!

Great location and amazing views. We stayed there two years ago, and it was fine, but this time, we were given room 458 (we own with Wyndham and used points for the two nights) and it was spectacular. It is recently all done over, and very well done at that. I wouldn't hesitate to go back there for another weekend whenever we can fit one in!

Room Tip: Ask for 358, 458 or 558 if possible! I really can't rate the "value" or restaurant or...

I just returned from a weekend at the Inn with my girlfriends. I had booked the Inn because all the hotels were sold out. After reading reviews, I was nervous about the quality. Assumed our room would be worn out and musty but we lucked out! We had a great unit on the top floor with plenty of space for four girls. The bathroom was spacious and updated and the kitchen was well equipped! The rooms don't have an oven but have cook tops with two burners. Unfortunately only one of our burners worked but we made do. I was able to cook an easy pasta dish for dinner one night and breakfast each morning with the pots, pans and dishes that were provided plus wine glasses, utensils, cutting board etc. Our unit had two flat screen TVs and a CD player/radio and a hair dryer! We had an awesome view of the Newport bridge and the windows open so you can get some fresh air. We had a king bed and a pull out couch, neither were very comfortable but we survived. Cons: The rooms don't seem very sound proof, you can hear the other doors closing in the hallway from bed and this morning there was an alarm clock going off in the room next to us, it was so loud I thought it was in our room! I had seen the room being cleaned the day before so I knew it was vacant, I called the front desk at 8 AM to let them know and maintenance was sent to the vacant unit to turn it off within 15 minutes. Also, there isnt much closet space for your clothes which could be an issue with an extended stay. The staff was so pleasant - check in was quick and the girl who helped me couldn't have been nicer or more knowledgable. The front desk called yesterday to ask how our stay was going and called this morning to see if we needed assistance checking out. We had a great experience and will definitely return.

Room Tip: Make sure you check out the roof deck, awesome spot to watch the sunset!

We stayed here for a weekend to celebrate our 31st anniversary and were a bit concerned that this was a companion resort to the Long Wharf Resort across the street but from the moment we checked in (@ Long Wharf Resort) we were greeted by warm smiling faces and cheerful friendly service. The check in process took less than 10 minutes and we were on our way to our room on the 3rd floor. The room was extremely clean (I always check for bed bugs, yuck) and the view of the harbor was spectacular! The Inn is close to town but bring comfortable walking shoes as we did a lot of walking! We love Newport and usually make sure to eat at Brick Alley Pub but also wanted to try some of the other restaurants. Based on Trip Advisor reviews, we went to Diego's for dinner one night. The food was great (great calamari and fish tacos) and our waitress Jess was awesome. When she found out it was our anniversary she brought us champagne! Nice touch! We loved lunch at Benjamin's Raw Bar (seafood mac'n'cheese) and had another fabulous dinner at the Lamp Light Grille. We will definitely be back again next year!

Room Tip: All rooms have a water view. Be sure to go to the roof top and see the view!

My wife and I stayed here over the Memorial Day week. We are Wyndham owners, but got the resort through an RCI exchange. The units here are 1 bedroom with kitchenettes and a living area. The windows face the Newport harbor, with western-facing units
overlooking a working crab and lobster dock and the southern-facing units overlooking the wharfs and the sail boats. The unit was clean and well maintained and comfortable for two.
The kitchenette has a two burner stovetop, but no dishwasher, so cooking requires hand washing the dishes. The air conditioning is provided through a window unit in the living area.
During our stay, the air conditioner went out, so the resort moved us to a different unit on the same floor. Maintenance (Mac) helped us move and it took less than ten minutes. The new unit gave us a different view of the harbor. The next day, the front desk called and said that my wife's driver's license was found by housekeeping in the couch of the old unit. We didn't thank them enough for returning it. During our stay, we went to Boston, about 1-2 hours away, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos, about 1 hour away, and walked to the shops and restaurants in the wharf area. We did not tour the mansions, but did walk along the Clfff Walk one afternoon. The weather was great except on Saturday before we left. On that day, we rode the Newport train for lunch.
There are a variety of restaurants in walking distance to the resort. Our favorite was Benjamins Raw Bar, which has a great seafood and prime rib special between 4 pm and 7 pm.
The Moorings restaurant is more formal, but equally good. One of my favorite shops was Geoclassics Gems and Minerals on Bowen's Wharf.
We will return to this area in the future and will stay here or at one of the other Wyndham properties. I will review the tours and other locations in a separate listing.

This place is very nicely located on Long Wharf great view and a short walk to the center of the action. Plenty of places to eat, drink and shopping. We had a two bedroom, two bath unit that was well equipped. Everything worked and was in clean condition. Plenty of good quality towels, shampoos and soaps. The check in/check out was quick and the staff was helpful and friendly. Thumbs up!

The view. It's all about the view. The rooms in the Inn On Long Wharf each have a great view. The room was nicely appointed checking in at the Wyndham Long Wharf across the street was easy parking was convenient. The view of the harbor and the fishing boats was great. It is a short walk to the main area of Newport. It was exactly what we expects and gave us the view we hoped for -- watching the fishing boats go out before dawn ws fun. We unreervedly recommend the hotel.
