“Very good tour.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

This is a wonderful cottage to visit - especially if you have seen some of the others. It is full of wonderful art and artifacts, yet still feels "livable". Our tour guide was wonderful and it was not crowded. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would not hesitate to go again.

“Our reunion group was treated cordially”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

Even though we did not provide the required notice we were welcomed as a group to enjoy a very professional guided tour. We were encouraged to leisurely explore the grounds after the our mansion viewing.

“Very interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Rough Point was Doris Duke's estate in Newport. Because Doris Duke was such a colorful person, it is interesting to visit her home and see how she lived. She had wild animals roaming the grounds such as giraffes and such. She had a very interesting life and there are lots of stories that are told if you visit Rough Point. I really enjoyed it and have been there more than once.

“Worth the extra $28”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Although this mansion is not part of the historical society in which you can purchase several tours for $31 it is definitely worth the extra cost. The guided tour is very informative. All of the furnishings are intact from when Dorothy Duke lived there. The interior of this mansion is not as over the top as the other mansions. There is also a very pretty perennial garden hidden by an impressive yew hedge.

“Great guided tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

Rough Point is beautiful with wonderful works of art and gardens. The shoreline is beautiful. You can almost see Doris Duke sitting in the solarium enjoying the beautiful view!
