On March 10 my wife and I decided to spend a weekend in Newport, Rhode Island. After searching between tens of B&B and hotels we decided to stay at the Brinley, the rooms looked nice from their website and the location was convenient.

John and Jennifer were very kind and friendly. The breakfast was amazing (especially the french toast!).

The room was nice. Beautiful furniture and fireplace, comfortable bed.

Definetly a good experience.

My sister and I discovered the Brinley about 12 years ago. Having stayed there multiple times, with and without our spouses we can honestly say this inn is worth your while!!!! If you are willing to sacriifice being in the "heart" of Newport in order to avoid that pricetag, then the Brinley is the place for you! John and Jennifer have poured their heart and souls into restoring and preserving the feel of this victorian inn and have done so with an endless amount of TLC. This inn is clean and very, very homey!!!! Jennifer prepares the most delicious breakfast each morning with English French Toast or her yummy Potato Bake, just to name a couple! This couple is present and friendly during your stay and we wouldn't go anywhere else in Newport!! Nine of us ladies spent the most enjoyable weekend there this past week and every one of us had nothing but good things to say!!!! The people are great, the food is great , the rooms are great and the feeling is great!!!!! Keep it up, John and Jennifer!! We love you!

We attended a wedding in Newport on June 23 and a free hotel advisor suggested this B&B. It is in an undesirable neighborhood with no flavor whatsoever of Newport. Our tiny room was on the 3rd floor with a bathroom the size of a broom closet. We paid $199 plus tax for this room. It was quite clean and the breakfasts were good. However, we looked at someone's room who was attending the same wedding and was shocked to see that at the same price, they had a first floor room off the main sitting room which was far nicer than ours. Our only amenity was a clock.

To get to the front of the house where we would eat, we had to go through what can only be described as a corridor which housed the washer, dryer, shelves with the dishes, glasses, an old sink propped up against the wall, and various other objects. My cousin took many pictures, including this hallway, the badly peeling paint on the porch, and their room itself which did have a bigger bathroom, but lacked in every other area. It poured the entire weekend and rain came in their room between the sill and bottom of the air conditioner and made for a wet carpet. Quite frankly, we were all happy to leave the Brinley Victorian.
