“Honeymoon in Newport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Newlyweds who recently visited...Dennis and Grant were extremely accomodating and helpful which made our trip very memorable! Upon check in we were upgraded on the spot to the Dudley Newton suite. The daily breakfasts were out of this world and Stuyan's chocolate chip cookies in the evening were delicious! Our room was spotless and very comfortable. The back porch was relaxing to sit out and enjoy the beautiful hydrangea's that dot the property. Looking forward to our next stay at the Hydrangea Inn. Highly recommended!

Hydrangea House is the gold standard for a B & B experience!! I stayed here for a girls' weekend with my mom about 8 years ago and again this past April for a romantic birthday celebration with my husband. HH was perfect 8 years ago and again in April. The inn is exquisite providing you with a Newport experience that transports you to the Gilded Age but with all of the modern comforts you could want. My husband and I were upgraded to a gorgeous suite complete with a fireplace and jacuzzi bath and steam shower. I was a little worried my husband would never leave the steam shower. Grant and Dennis are impeccable hosts. Even in April, when we were the only guests, they gave us the full treatment. As we sat down to breakfast at their gorgeous dining room table, i couldn't help but feel like it was my one and only opportunity to live life Downton Abbey style. They made us feel like a regular Lord and Lady!!! Furthermore, I recently requested a recipe they made for us and I had a reply in seconds!! Hydrangea House is amazing and the only downfall would be anyone deciding not to stay there!!!

We came back to stay at Hydrangea House Inn because we couldn´t resist the temptation. It really is the very best place to stay. This time we were taken just as good care of as last time. Our room was absolutely wonderful and the hosts are the VERY best. We slept like babies in the comfy bed and were bedazzeled by the beautiful room and the neat details. We enjoyed breakfasts and afternoon wine with interesting people and Newport is lots of fun and sooo beautiful. We had the very best stay thinkable and we hope to be able to come back again. Thank you ever so much! Mikael and Petra from Sweden

Although we usually prefer to stay at a major hotel chain, our stay at Hydrangea House has proved to be a simply wonderful experience and we can't wait to return. Dennis and Grant were grand hosts and attended to our every need. The accomodations were excellent with perhaps the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, and the upscale ammenities nicely appointed. The homemade breakfasts were a true culinary delight with attention paid to any food allergies or preferences. The location was just perfect with an easy walk to mansions, the harbor, shops and restaurants. This is real gem!

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and the hosts, Grant and Dennis, greeted us with a warm congratulations and room upgrade to the incredible Oak Room. This is a five star B&B so you expect the great amenities it offers - super breakfast, incredible decor, ultra clean luxurious accomodation. But you get so much more here - the really pleasant hosts full of advice (for a trip to venice), tour of the lovely touches and art throughout the house and a sweet dog to greet you (only if you want her to do so). The location is perfect walking distance to all restaurants and activities along Thames Street. Wonderful stay in Newport.

Room Tip: Oak room is amazing - canopy of wood, the cornices and trim and doors all dark oak. Gas fireplace. L...

Had a very relaxing few days at the Hydrangea House. Dennis and Grant are such accommodating hosts. The breakfasts served each morning are wonderful. The Inn is within walking distance of many good restaurants and shopping. This was my second stay there and I look forward to returning.

This is a charming B&B with very congenial innkeepers. We were upgraded to a suite on check in, which was a nice gesture although we don't generally spend much time in rooms except to sleep. The suite had the usual upscale ammenities -- whirlpool, fireplace, candles, gigantic steam shower, flat screen TVs -- none of which we actually use -- but which seem to be "de rigeur" in today's B&Bs. If that's what you are looking for, they have it. The inn is very conveniently located to everything and this is a very important plus, I suspect, when the hoards hit in the summer months. Dennis and Grant are a delight. The breakfasts were yummy, although it would have been nice to have been asked ahead of time if we had any dietary restrictions. We didn't - but I could see where this might be a good practice in these days of peanut and gluten issues. A nice touch was wine and cheese and the chocolate chip cookies in the evening were fantastic. The dogs were a great addition!
