Stayed here in August 2012 for a long weekend with my boyfriend. The location is perfect - right on Thames Street and within walking distance to restaurants, lounges, bars, etc. It's a very old (historic) building so the front area (lobby) is dark with low ceilings. Our room was on the 4th floor. Nothing really special - seemed a little outdated and small (again, with a low ceiling) - but it was very clean and it was all about the location! There are more charming inns in Newport - so if you want smthg romantic, maybe check out some of the other places (I love Bayberry Inn – it’s a little farther away but still walking distance to Thames Street - but it's also more expensive). But if you want to be in the middle of the action on Thames, this offers great value for the location. Plus, they offer b'fast in the mornings with great variety / options. The parking is across the street – it’s actually a public parking lot but you get a special rate through the inn – I think it was smthg like $15/day.

This was a last minute trip so the other hotels/inns that we typically stay in were already booked full. BUT, our room was fine – simple and clean – and I ended up really liking this inn and would definitely recommend it. There’s nothing fancy about it but you can’t beat the location and price (plus it was very clean!!!).
I stayed in a 4th floor room and it was great - quiet and away from street noise. Also, there's...
