I was very impressed with the room. Great view, clean and with all the amenities. Wonderful and romantic lightouse. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

The dinner was overpriced and the portions were too small. I ordered the five course meal and left hungry. The bread tasted like wonder bread even though it had been described as tuscan italian. I could take it or leave it with the dinner and thats not right for 80 per person!

There was also a large party making a lot of noise next to our "romantic" evening. The food was mediocre and not worth the price. I can get a better meal for a lot less. One of the so called five courses was some discusting bean mix. I ordered a lobster and didnt even get the entire lobster meat even though it was promised. The clam chowder was good. The menu was so complex to figure out that you need an advanced law and medical decree. I had to ask the waitress for clarification on how to decipher the 3-5-8- course menu combination. I also could not read the menu because it was so dark.

The kobe beef was nothing to write home about it. I could get that meal just as good for half the price. Some lady was laughniing like a hiyena in the nearbye party.. Breakfast was wonderful and free

This was our second visit to Castle Hill. We decided to spend christmas there, we were a party of 5, so myself and my husband had The turret suite and my parents & Daughter shared the Light House suite. The rooms were lovely, our turret suite was so romantic, overlooking the ocean -the bath was right next to the window - so you could lie and soak whilst watching the waves! The room was well stocked with complimentary fiji water and soft drinks, which is always nice. The Lighthouse suite, was very spacious for 3 persons, with a sofa bed in the lounge area, again it had a massive bathroom, huge shower and a tub in a separate dressing room. Again well stocked with fiji Water.
the staff are all very friendly and halpful. the only downside to the hotel was the food! Breakfast was great, but dinner wasnt so good. christmas day lunch was just weird - a buffet, with fish, pork and beef and wait for it Yams with Marshmallows! (yes-marshmallows!)not forgetting cheese Fondue! oh and no potatoes!Therre were no decorations in the dining room and the tables were also devoid of any christmas touches! Christmas day night, there was no food available! We had to complain to the management in order to get a sandwich! Very odd.
but the Hotel and staff are great, just the food lets it down. Although in fairness it is aimed the American guest not the Uk Guest so maybe thats why.... So on the whole, a Great hotel for B&B, but eat out is my advice!

This was our first visit to Newport and Castle Hill Inn. We stayed in the Lighthouse Suite, which was well appointed and luxurious. In fact, it was a more luxurious room than we've had at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. As nice as the Inn is, the real standout feature is the service. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Our busy touring schedule did not allow time for us to have dinner at the inn either of our two nights, but breakfast each morning was incredible and the view of the Bay from the dining room is outstanding. The chocolate chip cookies provided in your room each day are a real treat, too! December seems to be a good time to visit - less crowds, the shops and restaurants are open, and the mansions are decorated for the holidays.

My husband and I had booked the the Chalet Room for a romantic weekend. Upon check in we were suprised to learn that there was an issue with our room and we were put in a Beach House. The room was wonderful, right on the water with a nice deck to hang out on. We cranked up the heat since it was a chilly April day and opened the doors to enjoy the ocean.

We have been to Newport a few times, and love the town. We had seen the big mansions. The best part of this trip was spending time at the State Park near the Castle Hill Inn and checking out the property. My husband went for a long walk along the beach, and climbed on the rocks. I was pregnant at the time so I skipped the rocks.

Breakfast is included in the price of the room. For an extra $15 they'll deliver it to your room. We ate breakfast on the deck, it was warmer the next day. The breakfast was great, we loved the lobster hash.

We stayed just for one night and we had the “cottage harbour view” I should say it was perfect …. Gas fireplace, fantastic view on Newport’s bridge, hottube etc etc, the hotel’s location is almost perfect … right on the cliff with one side on the city and the other on the open sea …
