Your admission includes the audio tour. There is a regular tour, as well as a family version. The tour generally takes about 35 minutes, but if you listen to all of the extra information and take your time looking around the house, it can easily take you an hour and a half. When visiting The Elms, make sure to look up. The ceilings are absolutely beautiful!
If you have the chance, take the Servant Life Tour. We took it before the audio tour. It lasted about an hour, and was well-worth the time and money. It was also interesting to see some of the main parts of the house (like the skylight) after learning about them on the Servant Life Tour.
We visited at Christmastime, but I would love to go back and see the house in the spring or summer. During warmer months, you can eat at the carriage house on the grounds here.
