With all due respect to the previous reviewer, DO NOT expect LUNCH at the Chinese Tea House.
Marble House itself was a stunning mansion and well worth the visit.
BUT we were totally disappointed when we discovered that the Tea House did not serve Chinese Dim Sum or anything like that - just sandwiches in packaging that you could take outside and eat (at a table if you were lucky). As far as tea itself, well there were bottles of Gold Peak if that's what you are after.
Similar disappointment at the only other option - The Elms Carriage House. Same food, but here we were subjected to a person standing on a chair and giving a lecture - something we did not enjoy.
The best advice I can give for touring the Mansions is:
1. Buy a 'couple' annual membership - it costs $20-$25 per person per house - but for $75 you can purchase an annual pass FOR TWO to see 11 mansions - multiple visits - with a FREE guest pass for one visit! - Absolute bargain.
2. The houses are an easy walk starting from downtown - you dont need a bus. If you are fortunate you might find a bicycle taxi to bring you back. You can include the famous Cliff Walk one way.
3. Given my comments, buy your own sandwich downtown and find a shady spot to eat at your leisure - The Elms garden is perfect.
