“Largest 1800's fort on the Atlantic coast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2010

This is a good tour when combined with the Breakers. The coastal views are fantastic. The tour guide was exceptional. Better tour than most period forts.

“Best guided tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2010

We decided our family of 5 to go and visit fort Adams. My son and I are history lovers and the girls aren't. Steve was our guide and after listening to him for 5 minutes. I knew I would miss him after this was over, what I did not know ,was that the girls would miss him too. This tour was fantastic. One of the best guided tour ever. We were at Louisbourg NS last year another great fortress a 200 years older built by the french in the 18 th century and they had a community doing the reenactment. This place would be awesome if they could do the same, but Steve made it happen by himself. Do not miss him if you go well worth it.

“You must tour the fort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

This place is amazing. It is one of the biggest forts you could ever imagine. The design and layout of the fort is so interesting and the reasoning behind it's design is quite fascinating. You must take the time to come here and tour the fort. You won't regret it.

“Not to be missed...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2009

The Fort Adams guided tour (only way to see the fort) is well worth the time. Our guide (Steve Merino) was extremely well versed in both the history of the fort, its activities and Newport at the time. He really made the place come alive despite no fancy interactive media. Also, the best views of Newport harbor are from the top of the citadel. Well worth the $10 admission ($9 if a AAA member) and the hour of your time.

“Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2009

Colonial era through modern times vast fort complex located at the entrance to Newport Harbor. You must take the for a fee ($10) tour to visit inside the fort - and it is well worth it. Tour takes about an hour and runs generally on the hour, but this is a low key operation so be patient if they are busy with school tours. Well worth the visit as the fort is in a remarkably good state of repair given its age
