Just stayed in a very trendy hotel Newport , RI. the rooms very very nicely decorated and the hotel was very stylish . The staff very helpful and professional and its only a walk away from Thames Street, where all the shops and restaurants are located.

This small boutique hotel is located at the beginning of a lovely residential area two blocks up the hill from the loud, crowded Thames St. waterfront area. Our duplex room (210?) was spacious and well designed. It was however the only one I think with an industrial type steel spiral staircase. No fun with luggage and the 45 degree metal points at knee and eye level r a disaster waiting to happen. But, the small private balcony does have a water view. Just a quick heads up. Enjoy a duplex and private balcony (a treat) but perhaps not this one.
The friendly service, great design/room size, excellent breakfast and location earn the inn its four stars. The almost dreary afternoon tea and lack of bathroom amenities...shampoo, hand lotion etc. are not what I would expect at any hotel of this price point and reputation. Tighter supervision and an easy review of standards would make the Inn a five star property.
Leave your car in their free parking lot or garage, a huge plus in Newport and walk to the mansions.

I recently had my fourth stay at Mill Street Inn and could not say enough amazing things about the hotel itself and its staff. Caron and Siren are both total stars and really made sure that my stay was as perfect as possible. Trying to plan a weekend away for 9 girls wasn't easy but the hotel worked with me from the very beginning and made it a perfect few days away. The hotel is so comfortable, the location is unbeatable and the service is so personal. Stay there, you won't ever want to stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: The townhouses all have small decks which are a real added bonus when staying here. Nothing beats t...

We enjoyed a two night stay at this fantastic location in the heart of the historic homes of Newport. Walking distance to everything Newport, Cliffwalk, Shopping, Restaurants and the Newport nightlife. Friendly and helpful staff made us feel right at home. Our room had a fireplace and small private porch overlooking the many church steeples to the harbor. They hotel offers a daily continental breakfast and off road parking at no extra charge. Shhhush..lets keep this one quiet or they will up their fees!
Enjoy,
Michael & Ginny

Not only are the rooms in the inn very nice, there is a lovely roof deck where you can have breakfast and/or sit and enjoy the scenery. It is conveniently located to the center of the town as well as the waterfront. Definitely enjoyed our stay here.

Stayed one night and have the following comments:

Nice sized room in a beautiful building.

Parking was appreciated but getting into and out of parking spots was like trying not to touch the sides while playing Operation!

They have the same song playing on an endless loop in the lobby and the breakfast area. Extremely annoying.

Breakfast was a pleasant surprise...nice selection for a continental breakfast with fresh berries, organic spreads for toast/bagels!

Shower floor (room 101) not sloped well and water runs out onto bathroom floor and seems to be rusting metal door frame.

No towel racks in bathroom.

Closet door opens into bed so you have to go past the door and the open it.

Minifridge is in cabinet/TV stand and makes a ton of heat that gets trapped in the cabinet.

Great book selection. Loved Zombies Hate Stuff!

No access to ice machine. You have to ask the desk staff to go downstairs to fill the bucket.

No vent in the bathroom. Fogs up quick unless you shower with the door open.

Close to everything! Easy to walk to downtown shops and restaurants!

My husband and I stayed in Newport overnight for an impromtu restaurant week getaway. We booked last minute at the Mill Street Inn for an excellent rate including a $60 gift card to use for dinner at one of the participating restaurants. For a Newport hotel room, the size is very large. We had a king bed along with a sofa and coffee table. This would be a great place to stay for many days. The linens were soft and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is clean and updated with great Aveda toiletries.

They provide an afternoon tea with complimentary coffee, tea and cookies.

The hotel staff was incredibly nice, helpful and accomodating.

The hotel is in a great location on Mill Street, 2 blocks from all the shopping and restaurants on Thames Street.
