“Room Fine, Other Caveats...”

Doubletree Club Buffalo Downtown

May 26, 2008

Spent one night here so my boyfriend could run the Buffalo Marathon. Room was clean and large, if a little dated. Hallways were clean as well. For the money, the room was perfectly fine.

A few issues, however- the walls seem to be rather thin, as I was able to make out full conversations when our neighbours were on the telephone.

Other issue was Au Bon Pain. Sunday morning, when I wandered in, there was barely anything available, and a fairly gruff and overworked staff. I waited quite a while to be acknowledged, and when I asked for a bagel, the server put on plastic gloves, then went to handle money in the till before finally grabbing my bagel! As though the gloves were to keep her hands clean and not to keep the food sanitary!
Ew. Anyway, overall, the hotel was fine for a quick visit. Neighbourhood was indeed a little rough, but there's really nowhere to walk in downtown Buffalo anyway, so it wasn't a big deal.

“not a good choice for business stay”

Doubletree Club Buffalo Downtown

Apr 17, 2008

I spent 3 days here on business and found this hotel is grossly understaffed and those that work here are overworked juggling more than 1 job. Tried to order room service and phone was never answered after 3 phone call attempts. Called the front desk to request room service help and no one answered phone.
On the 3rd and last day of my stay, went to their Au Bon Pain restaurant to have breakfast and they were out of orange juice, milk, bananas...one can only speculate why a food manager can't project the hotel's food needs.
Trying to retrieve my car from the valet service took more than 1/2 hour each day.
Agree with other posters that surrounding area is not the safest to walk around.
This hotel is convenient for anyone who has a need to be at the hospital across the street.
Rooms are spacious and clean.

“Nice hotel, bad location”

The Doubletree is one of the newer hotels in Buffalo. I was there for one night on a short business trip. I stayed at the Doubletree because I could not get a room at the government rate at the Hyatt or Hampton Inn. The hotel is very nice, but the location is not great unless you are going to Buffalo General Hospital or the Cancer Center.

On a positive note, the hotel has a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel. I took advantage of the shuttle to get to my client's office. And you have to love the warm cookie they give you at check in!

Stayed at the Doubletree while my husband was in Buffalo for a class. We had a nice stay there. Very clean rooms, helpful staff. Valet servie was a nice convenience (although one morning they almost gave our car to another guest!). Not the best neighborhood, but good central location to get to the popular spots in Buffalo. Just a few blocks from Elmwood Village and a short walk to Chipewa and downtown area.

“It served the purpose...”

I stayed at the Doubletree for a certification review course and exam, so my trip was business related and very quick. The hotel is a great option for family/friends of patients at Buffalo General Hospital or any of its facilities since it is practically attached to the hospital. The rooms were very clean, the food was "okay", but the location is not the best choice for those that want to venture out (by walking) in Buffalo. I would recommend renting a car during your stay.
