“Great for HSBC arena!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2010

My wife and I recently travelled to Buffalo for a hockey game at the HSBC arena. We managed to get a good rate on this hotel and we had a great experience.

The only downside is the parking - this has been mentioned by lots of reviewers! and it is a problem. It is across the street and the elevators were broken and the stairwell was out of service so we had to struggle with our bags through a busy parking garage at 5pm. The parking garage cost $10 which is reasonable enough.

As for the hotel the staff were exceptionally friendly and the room was well presented and clean. The bed was comfortable and we both remarked how quiet the hotel had been, I was shocked given how busy the hotel was.

Getting to the HSBC could not be easier. The trolley is free and it leaves from the back entrance to the hotel. If you want to walk (we walked back after the game) its only 10 minutes.

As others have said make sure you go for dinner at the pearl street brewery (two blocks from the HSBC on Pearl Street) it really is good food and beer! we went there after the game as well.

Buffalo downtown is very depressed and run down. It is sad to see. But we had a great night and found the locals very friendly indeed!

On the whole a good hotel for events at the HSBC we will choose this hotel the next time we go to a game

Booked 6 rooms at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo, Friday/Saturday nights for a group of guys who were in town for the Bills game at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

The hotel is well located downtown, close to restaurants (i.e. Pearl Street Brewery) and nightlife (i.e. Chippewa St.). Rooms were great, and the front-desk staff went above and beyond to address a few special requests, which was much appreciated.

Only drawback was no free wi-fi, but I guess that's becoming more and more standard at hotels these days, so can't really single them out for this, even if it is a pet peeve. Wireless internet was available in the lobby and the hotel bar, at a cost.

Not sure it's a regular thing, but believe the Bills opponents that week were staying at the hotel as well, which was spiffy. All-in-all, definitely would recommend the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.

Quiet, tastefully furnished, clean room. Cool original architectural details in the lobby. Staff very accomodating. Right by the train to HSBC arena - no fare in this part of downtown. Parking was lass than $10 overnight in a garage across the street.

While the service was wonderful and the bed quality was great there were a few flaws. The walls were very thin and the hallway noise was very annoying at 1 am. There were also no towel bars in the bathroom. There was one hook on the back of the door but nowhere to hang a wet towel or washcloth.

I stayed at this hotel because I attended a hockey game at the HSBC Arena. Buffalo really isn't the greatest city, but if you do stay in the city, this hotel would be a great option!! There are a few other hotels in the area but they are much more expensive than the Hyatt and not nearly as nice. The greatest thing about the hotel was by the staff. Never have I met so many people that were so warm and welcoming. Every staff member we encountered was polite, friendly, and had a smile on their face. The guest service agents were very friendly as well. They informed us about the free shuttle that runs to the arena. If you are staying here and you do visit the HSBC it's not worth it to drive. The hotel is within walking distance or if you choose to take a cab it is cheaper than parking would be. All and all I thought this was a great hotel and I would stay here again!

I was in Buffalo for a conference being held at the Hyatt. Although my room was not ready at 5:20 and there was some mix-up where I didn't get the phone call to say it was ready, staff (and particularly Jeffery) were very nice and apologetic. The King room that I had was great --clean and spacious. I guess the only improvement there would have been a little thicker of a comforter as the rm temps were set on 50 when you first go in. I was on the third floor so I did get a tiny bit of noise from the street, but I didn't mind since I was already awake. The conference included food and I was impressed by the quality. I tried to get into the steak house, but no such luck with it being restaurant week. I went to Alexis spa and the owner is who did my facial. It was a relaxing and great way to end my conference. I feel really bad about the city of Buffalo itself. The architecture is great and it has promise, but the economy has not treated Buffalo well and you have to go blocks before seeing other restaurants or stores to go to. We did go up into the City Hall observation deck, which had a great view and also walked down main street to the Lake and the old war ships and planes. Our last night we went to Elmwood Street and bought sponge candy and had a great dinner at a Tapas restaurant there.

During our last trip to Buffalo, we perferred to stay in Buffalo as we have friends over there and also it is just 30 drive from Niagara.
The hotel is good. But had to park in opposite parking lot for overnight with $8 fee. Hotel rooms are good and had a nice good sleep after a day long sight seeing in Niagara. Overall i would recommend this hotel to my friends/ will stay there again.
