We recently (August 2009) took my husband's parents on the 12:30 pm cruise of the Miss Buffalo II. While the cruise in and of itself was very interesting (which is why I have chosen to say I would recommend) it was sometimes hard to hear and stay focused on the guide speaking on the intercom. There were numerous children, many unsupervised, running around. Also, and much more distracting, were the many younger to middle age adults who spent the entire cruise smoking one cigarette after another while drinking one beer after another. Between their chatter and smoke, the cruise was less than enjoyable - which was such a disappointment. It could have been so much better. Yes, we could have gone inside where smoking was not allowed, but who wants to do that on a cruise on a beautiful day? When we were leaving, we did note that the majority of people walking up for the 3 pm cruise were older, with no children. Perhaps things would have been better if we had chosen the later hour. Another tip, when my husband went to the back of the boat (we were up front where you could see best) he said you could not hear the cruise guide due to the loud boat engine.
