“Best Place to Stay in Buffalo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

The Parkside House is a very nice B&B in the best location in Buffalo. The quiet, tree-lined residential neighborhood is charming in its own right and ideally situated for the many sightseeing opportunities Buffalo has to offer. Chris is indeed a wonderful host: gracious, accommodating and approachable. His home-cooked breakfasts were delicious and his two golden retrievers are adorable. We also thoroughly enjoyed the bathroom in the Jewett room. A great place overall.

The Parkside House is one of the finest bed and breakfast experiences my wife and I have enjoyed.
Chris, the innkeeper, is charming and very knowledgeable about Buffalo and all the city it has to offer. This was our first visit to Buffalo and he had some wonderful advice for us about sights to see and places to eat.
Speaking of eating, breakfast at the inn was spectacular both mornings!
Treat yourself the next time you are in Buffalo and stay at the Parkside House.

The Parkside House will dispel ANY nagging doubts one may have about the time to be had in Buffalo: Chris, Parkside's charming host, sets the tone for this "home-away-from-home" filled with warm, & interesting, conversation, over plates of absolutely delicious food. The House is in a REAL neighborhood (with neighbors who welcome you from their front porches); AND a REAL city whose beauty & diversity may "shock" those who've snobbishly dismissed Buffalo without having gone to see ALL that it has yet to offer for themselves -&, sadly, having lived much of my life in Manhattan I KNOW of what I write! Buffalo may still have much to overcome from its 20th Century decline but with even a few days stay at the Parkside House enough hope is conveyed that the thought of moving there (as more than one guest remarked over breakfast) seems not so "crazy" after-all. From the Parkside's breakfast table, sustained by good food & conversations that never seemed like "small-talk", setting-out into Buffalo's parks, baseball stadium, nature-trails, architectural gems, & vast arts-community (as WE DID during our recent stay), we had nothing but good beginnings to great days. And at the end of each day it was WONDERFUL to return to Parkside's comfortable rooms to rest, peacefully, already looking forward to doing it all again in the day to come.

Room Tip: We stayed in "The Summit Room" - where the only sound, that of the backyard birds, was soo...

This is the place to stay while visiting Buffalo! Wonderful accommodations tucked in a nice quiet neighborhood. Chris is a wonderful host and chef and will make you feel very welcome.
Clean rooms....beautiful framed prints and decorations...in walking distance to a nice park and the famous Buffalo zoo. We would love to come back and visit again!

Room Tip: The room at the front of the house (Woodward Room?) was large and had a nice sitting area The mattr...

Maureen and I had a great experience recently at the tastfully furnished Parkside House.
The downstairs has a parlor and dining room. Chris was a fine host, cooking a delicious breakfast of French toast (not too sweet!) juice, and excellent coffee (unlike most places)!

The Jewett Room was clean, with a nice comfortable bed. The bathroom was quite large with a clawfoot tub, and a tiled walk-in shower area of about 4'X 6', with an overhead shower, and multiple jets in the walls as well.

The difference in service and comfort when comparing to a fine B&B like this one, to a stark hotel room, is quite large.

Parkside House is on a beautiful residential street right by the Buffalo Zoo. The house inside is warm and inviting. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a woman friend from down the street as Chris was attending to business. She welcomed us in and showed us the room, answered all our questions about the B&B and suggested a place for dinner. The next morning I came downstairs before breakfast and Chris got me two cups of coffee. For breakfast Chris made french toast which was mind-blowing, and gave us a brochure for the Wright home tour which he highly suggested (and he was right about). Overall the rooms and house were spotless, the room had a television, wifi and a private bathroom. Breakfast was scrumptious, and both hosts were incredibly sweet and helpful about things to do in the area. I got exactly what I expected from a B&B, plus the bonus of convenience to all the things we wanted to see. We will definitely be back, and when we come back to Buffalo this is the only place I want to stay! Thanks Chris and Johnny for a great visit!

Room Tip: You probably can't go wrong with any of the rooms.

The Parkside House is a lovely home in the affluent and well located Parkside Neighborhood in Buffalo. It's a short walk from the fantastic Frederick Olmsted designed Delaware Park and one of Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic Buffalo buildings. It's also a short drive from most Buffalo attractions, including downtown, Allentown, Elmwood Village and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. The rooms are tastefully decorated and good sized. The shower in the Jewett Room is to die for and breakfast in awesome.

But what makes the Parkside House truly stand apart are the innkeepers that make sure your stay is memorable. Chris and Johnny are amazing at what they do, but more importantly, they're great people. We visited during a snowstorm that dumped over a foot of snow in the area. Unfortunately, our rental car was bad in snow and it got stuck trying to get into the driveway. Even though it was close to midnight, both Chris and Johnny came out and helped us move the car. With his superior winter driving skills, Chris managed to get the car unstuck and park in in a safe spot. Johnny shoveled snow to make getting the car unstuck easier. They helped again the next morning. Words cannot describe how helpful they were.

Upon checking out several days later we left with not only fond memories of a great vacation, but also with a sense that in Chris and Johnny we found not only fantastic innkeepers, but also good friends. Thanks guys!

Room Tip: Woodward room is considerably bigger than Jewett room if you need more space. However, the heated fl...
