We initially picked this motel as they allowed pets (with NO surcharge). Its an older motel just off the NY Thruway. Everyone we dealt with was pleasant, the rooms were much larger than you typically find, and they still use keys instead of the plastic cards and electronic locks that never work on the first try.

The restaurant at the hotel, the Sonoma Grill also has excellent food. We will definitely stay there again.

The location for shopping in the Buffalo area is good. It is about 30 minute drive to the Falls.
The hotel itself is VERY old fashioned, with little updating. From the sculptured worn carpeting, to the 19" tv that is bolted to the table, to the old "Colonial style furniture", to the formica topped single sink in the bedroom it was like a time warp. The place has definitely seen better days.
The hotel caters also to long term residents and we had a total and utter whack job that was out in the hallway swearing and yelling at people and threatening kids. Credit to the hotel they ejected her the next morning, but it is a consideration.
It was an experience, but doubt I'd return.

We paid $63 including tax for a room here on a Saturday night. Considering the price, it was well worth it. No, it isn't a four star hotel, but for what we paid I was more than happy. It was easy to find, clean, big room, coffee maker, hair dryer, free breakfast and pleasant staff. They even had a fitness room. I'd definitely stay again.

After reading the reviews here I decided to spend a night at the Lord Amherst.

The place is looking tired and walking to the room I recognised the strange motel smell I had not noticed since I was a child (on other adventures).

My room faced the main street, annoyingly the windows did not cut out hardly any of the outside noise.

The bed sheets and towels were clean.

I found it poor value for money, as I was expecting a good quality motel.
