Description: The Boots Bar & Grill was formerly the Iron Horse Saloon. New owners have taken over and were not allowed the former name, which I feel is actually to their advantage. We have eaten there three different times while passing through North Dakota and would like to leave a review under the new name of "Boots Bar & Grill". It looks like they have expanded. It is a western themed saloon with a large screened in porch as you first walk in, saloon has several large tables made from huge tree slabs, there is a spiral stairway that leads to a large loft for serving 30-45 with an open terrace on top that also has several tables outside.

“Tried it because of the good reviews, regretted it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

Before our trip to North Dakota, we read reviews for restaurants in Medora. Boots Bar & Grill seemed highly rated and well priced, so we tried it. We arrived at 6 PM, hoping to have enough time to eat and get to the Medora Musical at 7:30. When we arrived it was busy, but not so busy that we weren't seated. I overheard the waitress tell someone else that there might be a long wait for food. She never relayed this message to me. We were able to order by about 6:15. While we waited, most of the crowd dissipated. Our food did not arrive until 7:20, after we had asked about it a couple of times. The waitress seemed annoyed by our asking. We ended up being late to the Musical as a result.
An hour and a half wait for some simple food is far too long. If they were running short-staffed and that's what was taking so long, they should have let us know. We should have done the Pitchfork Fondue instead.

“Worth the time”

Not many places in town yo have a beer. This is the one to go to. Not associated with the monopoly so everything is more organized. Have bands on weekends during summer, food decent.

Always stop here when visiting Medora. The food is good, but service was a little slow, perhaps because we visited at the end of August and the college kids who work in this resort town were probably already headed back to school.

“Interesting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

This was not a great restaurant, but your choices are limited, especially off season. We did find a local microbrew we really liked and our waiter was super friendly and service good, but during the season I bet it is not. We tried the batter fried green beans, but like most batter fried vegetables the batter is overwhelming. I had a fried fish with sweet potato fries. The fish was well prepared, and so were the sweet potato fries. My husband tried the fleishkuken, a pork/beef patty surrounded by a bread pastry and deep fat fried. This was overly greasy and half way through he couldn't take any more grease. If I were in Medora again I might come here again, but the only thing I would re-order is the sweet potato fries and the beer.
