So, there are 4 places to stay in Medora. 3 are run by the same company and then there is the Americinn. The room was clean, new renovations on most of the room except the bathroom, which wasn't that bad and the hot water was nearly scalding out of the tap. The other three hotels won't accept a reservation unless purchased as a package to see the Medora musical and they were just as expensive as the Americinn. Pick your poison. Wait staff was really nice and the continental breakfast was good, make your own Belgium waffles and other goodies. It was super close to the Theodore Roosevelt South Unit and right off the highway. Medora is in the middle of nowhere and can take advantage of the tourists with the high price, hence why its not worth the $200 for a room, ANYWHERE in Medora.

We just stayed in Medora a few nights ago at the AmericInn. Our room was a non-smoking two queen bed room upstairs. It appeared that this was an older structure that had been renovated recently in the rooms but not in the lobby. The beds were comfortable, room was clean. There was a microwave and small fridge. The pool and spa were inside and were quite large and popular with the kids (so we didn't bother going in.) We never heard the train go past, and never heard it whistle as long as we were there. The man at the lobby said that the train companies had agreed to stop whistling, unless there was someone on the tracks. This was a perfectly acceptable small town hotel. The internet signal was rather weak even though we were close to the front desk.

We ended up at this hotel after finding out that every hotel in nearby Dickinson was full. We got the last two rooms here and they were extremely overpriced for what they were. One room wasn't even a room, per se. It was some kind of a conference room with a pull out couch and a "queen" bed that looked more like a hospital bed. The closet was stacked full of chairs. The laundry room had one washer and one dryer and was contained in a storage room. There were tools all over the table, and remnents of carpeting and curtains scattered about. The town itself is gorgeous but not worth staying at when you end up paying almost $200 per room for something that was definitly not worth it.

Nice hotel, friendly staff and large compfy rooms. However, there's a misleading glitch. Several search engines (and the in room directory), list the hotel as being 'pet friendly'; it's not. Luckily, the helpful staff, understanding the confusion, allowed our dog to stay.
Medora is a wonderful place; history and fun without a hefty pricetag - wonderful for singles and families alike!

I understand that places in Medora are not cheap so having said that, our stay at the AmericInn was great. We really liked the hotel and the location. We found it to be very quiet even though we were in the end room right by the train tracks (and those trains fly through town). The air conditioner has a constant fan on setting so I used that. The room was a good size (we had 4--2 adults and 2 teenage boys) and fit comfortably. We enjoyed the breakfast even though there was a large tour group eating while we were there and they took up about 95% of the tables and were just relaxing so finding a table was difficult but they had a nice choice for breakfast. The staff was nice. Overall, we would definitely stay here again when back in Medora.

Newly remodeled hotel! Everything was fresh and clean. Completely non-smoking. Breakfast, pool, hot tub, and beautiful views. I was also able to walk into town every morning - so convenient! I can't wait to go back!
