“Great hotel, great staff, great happy hour and breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

This hotel is in a good area...you can walk to many restaurants. The staff is knowledgable about the surrounding area, and have a plethora of maps! They allow free usage of their computers with internet. Embassy is known for their free happy hour, and their free breakfast---made to order!

Stayed for one night on the way home from visiting Monument Valley and Canyon De Chelly. Jen, the front desk staff person was very accommodating and quick with our check in. Two room suites are always nice while traveling. While the upholstery of the furniture needs a little TLC the flat screen TV and very comfortable bed with extra pillows make up for it. The Happy Hour and Made to Order breakfast were excellent. The bartender and the breakfast staff were very outgoing. Would stay again on my next trip to Flagstaff!

Stayed at this property in Oct 2011 for three nights. We appreciated the friendliness and hospitality of the staff, to include the front desk clerks, the breakfast room & cook staff, and the evening bartenders. Furthermore, the lobby area was always clean and inviting and the maid service was exceptional in tending to our room each day. Bed was comfortable and we liked having the very large flat-panel TVs, one in the living room and another in the bedroom. Additionally, we were impressed with the spaciousness of the workout room and that there were anti-bacterial sheets available to clean off the equipment, as well as towels placed on each of the cardio machines for guest use -- It is these little things that did not go unnoticed. Would definitely stay here again.

On a recent road trip from Denver to Santa Barbara we spent one night at the Embassy Suites in Flagstaff. The deal was fine, large 2 room unit, sitting area with t.v, bedroom and bath. The pool wasnt glamorous but it was functional. Free happy hour and breakfast were good. The only downside was this hotel has a main thoroughfare on one side and the major interstate on the other. Even with the double-sided windows closed you could hear traffic and sirens. Not the best for sleeping.

The rooms were clean and well put together. We had one person sleep on the pull out couch and he said that it was not comfortable - which is normal for pull out beds in couches because the mattresses are so thin. However, I have slept in them in some Embassy's before and then weren't bad. There was a small spot of mold on the shower curtain liner and I notifed the front desk at check out so they could clean it or replace it. The cook to order breakfast was great as always. The front desk employee who checked us in was very professional and friendly and even suggested some places to eat. We chose Buster's on S Milton and University as it was one of her suggestions and it was a fabulous meal. The only other negative thing I would have to say is that the soda machines are a rip off. My son had an upset stomach and i thought maybe sipping a sprite would help and found out at 3 am that it was going to cost me $3 to get the sprite and then when i put my money in it said sprite was sold out and it wouldn't give me my money back.

We stayed over July 4th on our Grand Canyon vacation '11. It was a decent place to stay; lots of families. The rooms were fine and clean, but it was a little like taking a step back in time to 1979 - the exception being the flat screen tv's. We didn't spend time there during the day, but I would have enjoyed updated room ammenities in the evening.

The lobby, small lounge and breakfast eating areas are more current. And I have to say that I have never seen a better "free" breakfast at a hotel/motel. Made to order eggs/omelets, hashbrowns, waffles and well as a buffet. It was impressive and the employees seemed to take pride in providing the guests with a good experience.

The grounds are very well kept. The University is right behind the hotel, but pretty much anything you want to do, you must get in the car and drive. There is a newer set of hotels down the road (Hampton, etc) where there are restaurants and retail that I would probably have chosen had I seen the choices other than on-line.

However, it's a pretty good family choice and it's great to get everyone filled up well before heading out on the road.

Room Tip: We had a pool view and the noise was not bad at all.

My new husband and I booked this hotel two months in advance to stay for our honeymoon last July. On a Monday, After riding the amtrak train 30 hours to Flagstaff, getting a taxi to take us to the hotel at 1 in the morning, the front desk told us that they had "overbooked" a corporate account, and that they had NO ROOMS FOR US. Imagine the look on our faces when we found out this.... our taxi had already left. While the hotel did book us another hotel to stay at that night- THE GRAND HOTEL IN FLAGSTAFF... They seemed like they made it out to be our fault that THEY overbooked. THEY called another taxi, which by the way took over an hour to come get us, and paid for the room that evening, and barely enough for the taxi to take us there at 2 in the morning. We were supposed to stay there again on Friday, (the rest of the week we were going to be at the Grand Canyon), but called to cancel Tuesday morning, so we could stay again AT THE GRAND HOTEL on Friday. While my husband stays frequently with a big corporation at the Embassy Suites on business trips, we will NEVER book another stay with the EMBASSY SUITES, ANYWHERE in the US.
