“too bad no one here knows how to do their job!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

i made reservations @ 9am on july 26th for 2 joining non-smoking rooms. The person who made my reservation did their job wrong and my children and i were forced to sleep in smoking rooms. The following day we were transferred to non-smoking rooms which would have been nice but one of the double beds in rm 229 was completely saturated. Entirely unsleepable even with new linens :( The staff had nothing to say other than "im sorry" and while an apology is nice i would have liked to see more customer service. Aaron, you remind me of my ex-husband, full of empty promises to appease me and keep me quiet/happy at the moment. Mayjol provided the BEST customer service and was friendly and was truly compassionate toward our situation. She helped all she could and got the owner to refund me 100$ of my money. Its better than nothing but still infuriates me that i had to actually pay 169$ for this horrible experience.

So much went wrong I almost wondered if there was a hidden camera with someone just waiting to come out and say it was all a joke. The a/c sucks so much so that even after repairs that took place at around 6:30 PM, the room finally started cooling down to about 75 degrees at about 2 AM, prior to that the room was about 85 degrees. It was much cooler outside and we had the window open and would've kept the door open for a while but our baby kept running outside and towards the stairs. The microwave began sparking leaving burn marks on the door...keep in mind it wasn't even in use. The tv broke and desk clerk said it'd be replaced in the morning. When we arrived from being out all day we discovered that neither the micro or TV were replaced so we called the front desk and the woman said we could switch rooms which we declined given that we were very settled in with a 6 year old and baby. Had I known what was about to transpire I would've accepted the room transfer. Next, the toilet clogged and still didn't work even after trying to plunge it; we hadn't been there all day and didnt do anything to cause it to clog other than pee. Next, I went to get milk out of the fridge for my baby and it was almost frozen slushy milk. Next, my husband went to take a shower and the shower head fell off send water shooting around the bathroom. My husband tried putting the head back on but each time he switch from bath mode to shower mode, water would still shoot out of the side of the head. I called the front desk and the woman was very apologetic and offered us another room which we accepted however it was a smoking room that smelled beyond belief. Never ever stay here!!!!!

If you want a cheap, need a place to crash, dont care about updated stuff....this is your hotel. Staff was great at check in. The room I was in was....ok. everything is outdated. The pillows sucked big time. Old bedspreads, sandpaper sheets. We had kids with us....they turned on the tv and found a full on XXX rated show. Luckily my husband was able to fix that quickly. We were in a jam so this worked out for us. Great for a quick over nighter. But not great if you want to hang and relax.

Pool was drained and full of sludge... Was not told until well after paid full price for room plus unrefundable deposit fee and other taxes and fees. No discount or refund offered. Oddly, room charge in flagstaff much higher than location in Phoenix in summer... Should be opposite.

We stayed at the Econo Lodge for 2 nights while visiting the Grand Canyon. Check in was fine. We asked for a 1st floor room b/c my husband has knee problems. We were told that bottom floor rooms only had double beds. We still ended up on the 2nd floor. Room was clean. The receptacle at the sink didn't work. My husband was electrician and said it could be dangerous. And there were few other receptacle in the room to use for a hair dryer. We decided to just deal with it.

Later on that night as we were already ready for bed we noticed how hot the room was getting. We tried to cool it down by changing the thermostat. It only got hotter--85 degrees! We called downstairs and was told that they had not turned on the AC for the summer and basically was told here was nothing they could do. My husband asked for another room and we were moved--DOWNSTAIRS! We had to change our clothes and repack everything.

The new room was better and definitely cooler.

Breakfast was sparse and the day we checked out we didn't even eat there.

It's an ok place to stay a night or 2. I was glad when we checked out.

We were actually supposed to stay in a different hotel, but our reservation didn´t come through and the hotel was fully booked, so we got sent over here. First of all, we were really grateful there was a bed for us at the Econo Lodge because we´d been up for 24 hours straight. The girl who checked us in seemed to be very nervous and took quite some time until everything was done, but she said it was her first day working alone, and she really tried her best to get us a room as quickly as she could. While the motel isn´t very pretty from the outside, the rooms themselves are nice and perfectly cleaned, the beds are comfortable, too. Breakfast was included, beside the usual muffins and donuts they also offered oatmeal and fruit. They don´t have a lot of seats in the breakfast room, though, so most people took their breakfast back to their room. I thought the EconoLodge is just fine for a stopover on your way from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon.

My husband and I stayed here on our trip from Texas. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Had no problems with the room. It's an older hotel with exterior corridors, but we like that.
I would stay here again.
