5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

My wife and I where on a cross country road trip across the US and Flagstaff was part of a plan stop. Searching the net for a room in the region we decided to stay at the Best Western Pony Soldier Inn & Suites. What a great decision that was! At check in we where greeted by a extremely courteous staff member with a great smile, she was very knowledgeable of her region and recommended us to a great restaurant and at check out the the gentleman at the front desk was just as courteous and knowledgable. The property is a older location but extremely well maintained and very clean. The king suite we stayed in was excellent, very spacious and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast and facility where also of high quality. This is a great location we highly recommend it to all travelers great" BANG" for your hard earned dollars.
Keep up the great work!
Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Room Tip: Rooms with white comforter on top of beds are a sign of a cleanliness conscious property.

We walked into our room and were happy to see two separate TVs, two separate rooms (king in one; sofa hide-a-bed in the other), and two separate full baths. The large room was very clean and quiet. Staff was very friendly and spot-on with their recommendation of a neighboring Italian restaurant, Mamma Luisa. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Ask for the suite and pay a little more if traveling with family. You get two rooms in one and lots...

We have enjoyed the Best Western name throughout the Southwest, and the Flagstaff property was exceptional. The staff was extremely courteous and very attentive to all our needs. The room was spacious with large windows to enjoy the rain we experienced during our stay. We recommend this property to everyone travelling through the greater Flagstaff area.

Generally I've come to trust the Best Western name, especially around Arizona, this hotel lived up to that expectation and also it's previous reviews. The room was small... and could have been very depressing in the wrong hands... but this hotel has done the best it could with the small rooms it has. The decoration is good, and makes one feel cozy. Also, and this is a big point, the Hotel is very clean, one felt one was in a room that was being properly taken care of and cleaned.. when on the road this is a good feeling... good stay for a jumping off point for holiday exploration in the area.

Room Tip: While not a perfect view, second floor does offer a slight improvement over the first parking lot vi...

Thank you for your review. Our housekeeping department does a nice job of keeping our rooms clean. We appreciate your comments in regards to the cleanliness of your room and hotel. You stayed in one of our smaller rooms with one queen bed. We also have regular size rooms with two queen beds and have a fridge, and two room suites that have two bathrooms, two TV’s, and fridge & Microwave. WE added the 37” flat screen TV’s in June, and they have been well received. We also improved our top of bedding with a new decorative sheet, new scarves and bed skirts.

Thank you again for your review, and we hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,
Scott Grams

We book a room here from the web. It states totally smoke-free, but you can still smell years worth of embedded old smoke in the walls in the lobby. Our room was inside very close to lobby where we could smell this old smoke-smell. It's sickening after awhile. I inquired about how they could say smoke free when you can smell this old smoke everywhere in the lobby!

The room was the smallest Best Western room I have ever stayed in! Our toilet continued to run so we complained and was moved to an equally small room just next door. The manager was the rudest person I've ever dealt with and non professional. I would NEVER stay here again because of our treatment and handling. We were booked for two nights, but checked out next day and went on our way to Sedona sooner. Pay the extra-----stay in Sedona!

The continental breakfast was great though......the only treat here unless you stay in the never part of complex and you avoid the manager with any complaints.

Thank you for your review. We are a 100% non-smoking hotel, and have signs posted at all entrances, at the front desk, on the doors leading into the rooms, and in the rooms themselves. Now does that mean that guests never smoke in the rooms, no, but we do act promptly when we discover that someone is smoking in their room. We have a sign at the front desk and wording on our registrations cards that indicate we may charge up to $250 for smoking in our rooms.

We have 3 different room types, of which you reserved the smallest room, which incidentally is the first to sell out for singles or couples passing through Flagstaff. They are roughly 2/3rds the size of our other rooms, and are priced accordingly.

I have been the manager here for 4 years, and this is the only comment we have received about stale smoke in the lobby, my apologies. As far as my rudeness that you commented on, I do not recall any incidents in the past couple of months that you speak of. My office is adjacent to the Front Desk, and is always open to guests, and honestly I have guests stop in and talk to me quite often.

Thank you for the comments, and I apologize for not meeting your expectations.

Sincerely,
Scott Grams

We booked the room on the spur of the moment, deciding to extend an overnight adventure in the Southwest to two nights, and we got a great price. The room was very cozy. The bed was somewhat hard for my back, but my husband loved it (very firm mattress). The bathroom was clean, there was a newspaper the following morning and they prepared a very nice little continental breakfast. I inadvertently left a pillow behind, and at some point we may try to retrieve it! We were on the 2nd floor and while it was hot at first, the A/C was icy cold and chilled the room fast. Something unique was the soap - round lemon-scented and lime-scented cakes of soap.

The room was small but not tiny. It was clean and smelled ok. There was a refrigerator and a coffeemaker but no microwave. The beds were comfortable and there were no bedbugs. We had a large work table with extra electrical outlets for the computer. There was 1 luggage rack, but there was also a long dresser that we used for the 2nd suitcase. AC worked well and was relatively quiet. We could hear people in the halls and upstairs, but not enough to keep us awake. Breakfast was ok-hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, toast, sweet rolls, fresh fruit, waffles, biscuits & gravy, milk, coffee, juices, etc. Having previously stayed at the Comfort Inn (even though it's more expensive than BW), we would probably not stay here again.
