“A welcome respite on a long journey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Driving east from Death Valley at the end of a long road trip, we thought we could make New Mexico, but 20 miles outside Flagstaff, decided we'd had enough of the car. Searched for a B&B in Flagstaff, found the nice reviews of England House and called Richard. Very lucky there was a room for us and we arrived about 20 minutes later. Warm greeting, lovely room--Songcatcher--and attentive tour and information from Richard. VERY comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and all-in-all a delightful stay; we were very glad we stopped when we did!

Room Tip: The Pantry is a very, very tiny room, but the innkeeper was totally honest about it when we talked o...

My husband and I decided to stay in Flagstaff as a midpoint between multiple National Parks in Arizona, only to have them all closed due to the government shut down. This could have ruined our trip, but England House owners Richard and Laurel helped to make it the complete opposite. Our room, Stone Cutter was immaculate and beautifully furnished with lovely antiques. We had a den and fireplace which was so cozy. I love to cook and sat with a cup of their great coffee in the morning and watched them cook fantastic breakfasts, chat, share recipes and get ideas for alternative events for the day. They even arranged for us to see the Grand Canyon via helicopter!!! My husband plays guitar and learning that Richard secretly placed a guitar in the den. We love finding great restaurants and they let us know of many as Flagsaff is loaded with many. One of those was Cottage Place, where I have had the best meal out that I can remember in quite some time. The owner is also the chef and comes to your table. If you love to cook, don't pass up his cookbook which they have there if you ask and he will sign it. Don't miss staying here if you are in the area.

Room Tip: Stone Cutter is the largest room and we loved it but every room is beautiful. The room on the ground...

we just got back from our third stay at this lovely B and B. The hosts are so friendly and the breakfast is delicious. We usually stay in the Pantry Room which is smaller than the rest, but so comfy and cozy, and an affordable luxury for us. We look forward to going every year and would not consider any place else. Best night for a Phoenix lowlander..snuggling up in the comfy beds of the England House with the crisp air of a Flagstaff fall wafting in the windows! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We loved staying at the England House. We were made to feel as if it were our home with lots of helpful advise on places to eat and things to do. The breakfast was great and we liked the little extras--like the Dove Chocolate Ice Cream for a late night snack and the generous (no charge) up grade to a bigger room. Thanks Laurel and Richard for a great stay.

We have now enjoyed our third stay at the England House!! Honestly, whenever we find ourselves going through Flagstaff we never bother to look for anyplace to stay except England House. Hosts Laurel and Richard provide a unique combination of charm, comfort, hospitality and thoughtfulness. Besides the tasty breakfast and convenient location to downtown Flagstaff's eateries and nightlife, England House offers you late night wine and goodies, tourist advice and downhome friendliness. Couldn't be any better!!

We spent 3 nights here while traveling and sight seeing through Arizona. We stayed in the Stone Cutter Suite, which we found to be charming and comfortable. The Inn is decorated with careful thought and attention to restoring the original history and detail of the house. Hosts Laurel and Richard go out of their way to assist you in your travel needs and serve as invaluable resources for travel information, not just in the Flagstaff area but in many of the surrounding areas of Arizona as well. We found their helpful hints, and restaurant recommendations to really be better than anything we could have read about or researched online! Breakfasts were delicious as well. Highly recommend this inn!( but don't expect tv)

Unfortunatelty we've only had the pleasure to stay 2 nights at The England House B&B. There aren't enough words to describe the ambiance, the warmth and how Laurel and Richard run this place. Imagine home but even better like home 2.0
If you ever get a chance to stay here you should. The England House is just beautiful and the guests actually get the house to themselves since Richard and Laurel live in the house behind the B&B. As a personal note to them: Thank you so much for making us feel at home, your tips and the great breakfasts. When we can, we'll defenitely come back Love Bianca and Marscha
