“A pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2011

Never thought I'd have such nice things to say about a Budget Inn, but this was a very comfortable, clean room at a good price. Even the roach motels in Flagstaff are over-priced, so we were delighted to avoid a total fleecing AND be able to relax in the same stay.

Clean, great room (TV, microwave, fridge), comfy bed, close to some good food outlets (we did the great Galaxy Diner). Helpful man at checkin - pleasant attitude and accommodating. No food whatsoever, but we knew that when we booked. Can't go wrong if you're after somewhere to sleep in Flagstaff.

Though the guy at the reception was very friendly, the room was very disappointing and did not look like the pics on the brochure at all.

There was no desk, no chairs, rubbish behind the TV unit (which we needed to move to find the only wall socket) and noise from the main street. The aircon was very noisy, too.

All in all, not recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for the room on the bochure!!!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

I’m kind of picky about my hotel rooms and if you’re just ticking of a list of hotels I probably wouldn’t pick Budget Inn. This particular night everything was booked or really expensive. I was a little apprehensive but I shouldn’t have been. This place met my major criteria of clean, quiet and comfortable. The layout is your standard motel with few amenities. It appeared that most of the customers were tourists passing through so it was very quiet with no loud parties. The room was very clean and in good repair; in fact the entire hotel looked as if it had gone through a renovation recently. The bed was a bit hard for my taste but my wife thought it was good. Location wise they are just a few minutes from downtown which is a neat place to walk around and dine. They also have a Walgreen’s at the end of the block with a Redbox kiosk and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The staff was helpful in suggesting a place to eat and I will stay here next time I’m in Flagstaff.

Room Tip: Any room should be fine. We were at the stairway and never heard any noise.

This motel was basic, clean, quiet, and the bed was comfortable. It was a business trip, so we weren't there much. Acceptable price for what we needed and the location met our needs, also.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2011

This motel is located within walking distance of Walgreen’s, Chipotle, Panda Express, Safeway, Baskin-Robbins, and a number of other businesses. The rooms were clean, and the front-desk staff friendly.

On the minus side, they offered no breakfast at all, which is definitely unusual these days. There was not even a coffeemaker in the room! There was one in the lobby, but with only regular coffee, no decaf. Very…minimalistic…on the breakfast end of things. Note: iIf the root problem is that they don’t have a breakfast room, I’d think they could manage something like a brown-bag breakfast.

Like most modern travelers, we bring along an assortment of gadgets that crave recharging by the end of the day; I even pack one or two power strips so that we can charge everything with a minimal number of electrical outlets. Well, minimal was the word for it; I had to squeeze the power-strip plug into the outlet behind the TV, which worked, but was hardly convenient.

One other glaring omission from the room was a clock. I don’t know when I last stayed in a motel without a clock on the nightstand.

On the whole, it was OK, but not great.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate you taking the time to voice your opinions and concerns. We strive to make our guests as happy as possible when staying at the Budget Inn Flagstaff. We have newly renovated the hotel and have done our best to give guests what they most request. We, unfortunately, do not offer a breakfast any longer. We had tried a few years back and the guests were not satisfied with just a brown bag breakfast. Therefor, we decided it best to forgo breakfast as we believe if it is not done right, it shouldn't be done at all. We are a Budget Hotel and hope you found our rates suitable to the accommodations and the new renovations. Thank you again for your feedback and we will take all information into consideration for our future guests as well as your possible future return.
