“Our second stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

This was the second year in a row that we stayed at Highland Country Inn. These are basic accommodations but come at a very good price. We were there mid-week and slightly off-season and paid just $56 a night plus tax. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the historic district, across from the NAU campus and near plenty of restaurants and shopping. Both times our room was clean and the beds comfortable, but the towels need an upgrade. Our only other complaint is that you cannot turn on the bathroom light without also turning on a very noisy fan! We don't look for many 'extras' in a room so we were satisfied with the microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer and good TV reception. Coffee and tea are available in the lobby. There is also a guest laundry on-site. The staff was efficient and helpful and provided a shower chair on request. Breakfast is not included but there are so many great places to eat breakfast in Flagstaff that we prefer to pay less for our room and have something delicious rather than eat the typical hotel buffet breakfast. This hotel is not luxurious but is a very good deal.

This hotel was located just a few minutes drive from downtown Flagstaff, had fairly reliable Wi-Fi, a microwave & mini fridge, cable TV, and was clean and comfortable. There's a cool natural foods market right across the street. The only downsides were the towels (too small and thin) and the loud bathroom fan. Parking was also tight on a Saturday night; we had to park a good distance from our room after returning from a night out. Overall, this was a good place for the price.

For a $70 room this was by far the best value for such a prime location for Grand Canyon. I was totally expecting to be ripped off. The hotel is dated but immaculately clean. The rooms have comfortable beds, a microwave, fridge and parking right outside. The road noise might be a problem for some, and the air conditioning is noisy but after a day driving 500 miles from L.A I slept like a baby. Also try Salsa Brava for dinner... great Mexican food!

This motel is great value, it's cheap, it's safe, and the customer service is good. We pulled up at just about midnight after having issues with our hire car in Los Angeles, and were welcomed when we pressed the buzzer in the middle of the night. That time of night, I wouldn't expect anyone to be overly happy about getting up, but it was no trouble at all. It's clean & serves its purpose great. 1.30hrs to the Grand Canyon, for the price, you can't beat it.

The rooms were spotless and it was one of the cheapest places to stay in town! Exactly what we needed for a quick stopover in flagstaff on our way to see the grand canyon. The bed was a little bit harder than I would prefer, but that's just preference. Would recommend to anyone!

We stayed at the Highland Country Inn for three nights because it was it was fairly close to the Grand Canyon and the Petrified Forest. The hotel is next door to a grocery store and a very short drive to all of the fast foods as well as Walgreens and Targets. They did not provide breakfast, but we could get hot coffee, chocolate and a variety of teas anytime the office was open, which was until 8:00 pm. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and told us about a restaurant a few doors down called “Mike and Ronda’s” that served an excellent breakfast. They also gave us directions to the different places we wanted to visit. The rooms were recently renovated. They had new linens, carpet and paint. The next update was to replace the old televisions with flat screens. There was also a refrigerator and a microwave. Overall, I thought the hotel was clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable. I would definitely recommend Highland Country Inn to others.

Clean good hotel with well insulated rooms. Bathroom with good shower and all necessaries. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Only negative point is the location: at the corner of two busy roads with heavy trafic.
We had to walk about 10 minutes to find a restaurant.
