“Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

About 12 miles north of Flagstaff, AZ, you have a one-mile self-guided trail. Amazing to see the damage of the lava flows from a series of eruptions and how much area it covered! A great lesson of the geologic forces of nature!

“Unique sight of 900 year old volcanic activity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

900 year old volcanic cone and lava flows which are fresh and look like they happened last week. Nice ride just north of Flagstaff. Recommended.

“Interesting place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

There are lava flows without volcanos. There are also volcanos in the area. The ancient dwellings were interesting. We enjoyed the rural drive. We were not in a hurry and on our way to the Grand Canyon.

“not worth the time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

you can't really see the volcano / crater. there were the lava flows but I would by pass this part of the scenic drive and just go to the north part that is the Waukatpi (sp) ruins.

“Neat walking tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

This is a neat experience. It is also doable with childern.. It is good if you can get a Ranger to lead your tour.
