Liked the nice trails to walk. We loved the views and the history of this volcano. We would go again.

“Worth the drive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Try and do the lava flow trail which is an easy walk, partially paved. Also, stop at visitor center to see the exhibits.

“Very interesting!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Our family thought this was very interesting. We did not have time to see the visitors center, and just walked the Lava Flow Trail. It was not too hard, but you will definitely want to wear sturdy shoes as it's uneven and jagged. The guide book was very informative and easy to follow.

“excellent tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

The visitors center was great, but even better was the personalized tour by the guide. Excellent stop it was educational, relaxing and not too long. The tour guide had a wonderful sense of humor.

“Great for hikers, good for adults but kids/teens may be bored.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

Since we were already in Williams, it was about 45 minutes to the park. Beautiful landscapes. We drove about 10 miles in to the Painted Desert Lookout. Stopped 3 or 4 times to walk around & take pics. Hikers will love it. Tops of nearby mtns dusted with snow. It must be amazing in the winter. If you are not used to high elevations, the verical hiking will be very strenuous. Spent about 1.5 hours. Bring water & snacks, even if u r not hiking. If you continue on the road past PD Lookout, it is 25 more miles, and then you have to take HWY 89 all the way back to Flagstaff.
