“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2010

We had a great experience at the Fairfield Inn. We were just traveling through but the staff was very helpful and friendly. The pool was basic but my girls still enjoyed having time to play. The room was clean. The hotel is in a nice location and as a single parent I felt safe traveling to the hotel and on the hotel grounds. The continental breakfast was great and offered a lot of variety. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Reservation clerk perky to the point of being annoying. Slightly small room, very small bathroom. Room was clean. Breakfast area disorganized, tables cramped. Must say the staff in charge of b-fast excellent. They kept everything full and clean.

We stayed 4 nights at the Fairfield Inn traveling to the South Rim, Sedona, Meteor Crater, Walnut Natl Park and Sunset Crater. Clean average size room. Nice pool for the kids. Great free breakfast in the morning before you head off to the Parks.

The room was clean. Slept well on the bed. Breakfast was good. Cereal, toast, hard boiled egg, waffles, pastries, fruit. Hotel staff pleasant. They gave me wrong directions to the amphitheatre though. We stayed on ground floor and could hear footsteps above us and the floor creaked when they walked. Coco's Restaurant next door for late evening pie cravings.

We took Amtrak from Chicago to Flagstaff and scheduled 6 evenings at the Fairfield with the intention of seeing the area. We selected Flagstaff because of the location and the Fairfield because of recommendations on this list. It turned out to be nicer than expected and the staff is always ready to assist and advise. Lisa, in particular, was very knowledgeable about the area because she and her husband ride motorcycles and do a lot of touring. She told us places to go and see that we would not have thought of. When confronted by the many Indian Jewelry Trading Posts & roadside stands, she directed us to the first Vista Point at the entrance to Oak Creek Canyon and this proved to be right on, multiple vendors with a decent selection.

The rooms were of good size and very clean and everything worked. The included breakfast was of good quality and a nice way to start the day. Our stay was more than expected. Thank you Flagstaff Fairfield for starting our trip off right.

We booked this hotel at the last minute because of itinerary & weather changes, but it was a good choice. Desk staff was pleasant & helpful & even gave us a cheaper rate (Marriott senior discount rate vs the AAA rate). Located on a busy 4 lane road, but perfect if you are jumping on and off the I-40 or I-17 to head in various directions & touring Grand Canyon, Painted Desert or other sites north or east. Rooms were a tad small even for a Fairfiled Inn but we were there mostly to sleep that we could manage. The breakfast room is tiny so it is challenging to find seating during the busy times, but you can head to the pool when the weather allows or to the lobby. Overall a typical Fairfield experience.

This was a good budget choice for visiting NAU. The place was packed with graduation families and tour groups, but the staff stayed friendly and the breakfast stayed stocked (with the usual breads, muffins, cereals, and waffle-makers). The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and the AC/heating did a great job of keeping the room "just right." The hotel has outside-facing doors, but I felt safe on the second floor.

On the con side, I was able to hear footsteps upstairs and most of the plumbing of the neighboring rooms, but nothing too intrusive.

Restaurants like Cocos and Sizzler are within walking distance, and even the campus is accessible on foot if you don't mind a 10 min. or so walk. It took a little bit of trying to find the entrance, which was in a rock wall on Milton, just north of Saunders. It didn't beat out our usual favorite hotel, but it was still nice.

A tip: there's an exit in the back (on the northwest side) if you want an alternative to getting out of the place. Also, the bottles of water in the room are $2, so don't grab them thinking they are free!
