While not a bad place to stay because of dirt or poorly maintained rooms, the single reason not to stay at this particular hotel lies beyond the control of the staff – the railroad. The train is less than a quarter mile away & runs all night…with whistles…did I mention it runs ALL night? Previous reviewers have mentioned that this hotel has been undergoing renovations, and while they have been largely completed at this time, you are still dealing with a garden-style hotel from a previous era. In other words, the sound-proofing is not good. So, we did not get the best night’s sleep in this hotel. Other than that, this hotel was adequate for it’s amenities: the usual high speed internet, cable and an outdoor pool that is open seasonally. Hot breakfast was offered & included the waffle/egg patty/sausage that many hotels in this chain offer, but the room in which breakfast was served was much too small for the number of people that were trying to use it at peak times – my recommendation is to get your breakfast and get out! Again, the stay was reasonably priced, somewhere around $55 for the night, and the rooms were comfortable enough for a single evening, but the train is the deal breaker here. Unfortunately, many of the area hotels (Ramada, Motel 6, Holiday Inn) are all located on the same road (Lucky Lane) and probably have the same problem with the train unless they are more well soundproofed. I would try to stay somewhere else!

My husband and I stayed only one night while in town visiting family. I think the second floor was not being rented as the carpets were being replaced. The carpet in our room did indeed look new. It was the usual smallish, motel room with 2 doubles, although I think it was advertised as queens. It was very clean. The one thing I did like especially was a microwave and a refrigerator. I find those 2 things in additon to the coffee pot very handy. The weather was very cold. We found the heater in our room to be either very hot or no heat at all. No happy medium. It was more comfortable with the heat off, as the room seemed well insulated and kept it's warmth. I usually like the breakfasts that are offered with the eggs, fruit, and make your own waffles, but we failed to get up early enough to enjoy this, as the breakfast room closed down at 9 AM. Would be really great if they stayed open until 10 AM.

Overpriced

Overpriced given small room with double (not queen as stated) bed. At $55 it would be acceptable as a Route 66 norm but price is inflated by the corporate umbrella and the numerous inflating summer events in Flagstaff that seemingly deter the need to compete more effectively.

I was worried about staying at this hotel after reading all of the negative reviews, but it turned out to be just fine and exceeded my expectations. It's not in the prettiest of locations (on a service road across from I-40) and the photo on their website is a bit deceiving (the mountains aren't as close as they seem), but the rooms, while small, were nicely appointed and clean. We didn't have any problems with noise, being so near to the interstate, because the a/c unit served as a white noise machine for us, which was great. I was impressed by the free breakfast -- scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, waffles, etc. It wasn't your usual stale pastries kind of breakfast - it was very nice! I was pleasantly surprised by the experience.
