“Excellent New Hotel -- Step up for Flagstaff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2009

Newest hotel in Flagstaff. I have been traveling here for years and finally Flagstaff gets a good hotel, solid service, great rooms well appointed and fantastic lobby with business center. Looks like a European ski lodge, but with big open rooms. Breakfast was a little over priced for cold cereal, but there are plenty of options within walking distance. Plenty of parking. Running trails at the base of the hill, walk to NAU (if you are visiting the college), easy access to the Flagstaff community transportation system. Less than 1000 yds to freeway access, without the noise. Lap pool, nice gym (but go for a run, FLG is beautiful), laundry room, and bar with nightly specials.

We stayed at the Courtyard on our way from Scottsdale to the Grand Canyon. The hotel was opened in August 2009. Its in a good location and the interior is really done very well. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was right up there.

This is a new hotel and it shows...in the positive sense. Excellent breakfast (although not included in room price had everything you'd want for breakfast for $10.95. Hotel is only 2 months old at this writing but the staff were well seasoned. We stayed here while we toured Meteor Crater, Sedona and other areas south.

My husband and I took a quick impromptu trip across Northern AZ and did not have reservations for any hotel. When we arrived in Flagstaff we drove up to the nice new Courtyard Marriott located just off Highway 17 and were very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was.

The rooms are very nicely designed with an elegant but homey feel and breakfast is offered at an additional cost though there are several restaurants within a short driving distance.

The front desk staff was very welcoming and seemed to have been doing their job for years even though we were told the hotel just opened in August '09.

We will definitely stay here again should we be in the area again.

We used Flagstaff as our home base for visiting both rims of the Grand Canyon and doing a side trip to Winslow. This new hotel is as bright and shiny as a new penny. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, giving us advice on restaurants, directions, etc. Each person I ran into was unfailingly helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is not included in the rate, but you can purchase breakfast in the hotel for $10.95. There are so many other options within a few miles that is seemed extragravant to pay that for breakfast. However, there was a chef there preparing omelettes and such so it was more than your standard breakfast bar. They have a fire pit in the courtyard for enjoying during the cool evenings. The only complaint I could possibly make is the difficulty I had navigating that end of town. I kept missing the hotel entrance or going in the opposite direction I wanted to. However, I think that's more the way the roads converge and are configured than a fault of theirs. And, it doesn't help that I'm directionally dyslexic.

Decided on this hotel after a check on Marriott.com because it was a new, about three weeks old when we arrived. Most of the hotel lived up to the digital pictures featured on the web site. We were disappointed that we did not get a higher floor because of our platinum status, but it was a busy holiday weekend and the ground floor room was very nice.

Although the room was on a level lower than the lobby, it was on the courtyard level so we didn't feel like we were in a basement. The ceiling was higher than a standard Marriott, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was pretty standard with a shower/tub combination. There was also a mini-fridge below the coffee stand. We had a sliding door that lead into the courtyard with a gas fire pit and several chairs and benches. We we worried that we would be able to hear people hanging out there at night but we couldn't hear anything with the sliding door shut.

We didn't eat breakfast there but it looked like the standard Courtyard fare. Also, there is a small full bar in the lobby open until 10 p.m. Drinks were reasonable - $5 for a well cocktail. Wireless Internet was free and worked well.

The hotel is right off of a main road near a shopping center, but it is high enough that street noise wasn't an issue. Plenty of parking too.

Need a place to stop on our trip from Colorado to Los Angeles. Found this place on marriot.com and was listed as new. When we got to the place, I was told that the place just opened last week. It definitely looked and smelled brand new, just like a model home. The beds were the best that we had on this trip thru Utah, Colorado, and Arizona.
There was even a small pullout bed in a chair for one of our kids. The towels being new were plush even in the new indoor pool area. The jacuzzi jets were nice and strong. The service was definitely good since there was only a few guest at the time we went.
The location was perfect for us near the South end of town towards Sedona where we went next day
