This place is a pretty good value for the price you pay but do not expect luxury.

The staff was very friendly and responsive. The food at the on-site restaurant was very good and the complimentary breakfast was great--much better than many higher rated hotels. They had french toast, sausage, bacon, real eggs, cereal, juice, coffee, cocoa. We had complimentary water bottles in our room, free lift tickets to go to the top of the mountain (beautiful view), and the staff loaned us a deck of playing cards. It is a pretty straight shot to the Grand Canyon--it only took us 75 minutes to get there.

The rooms are cute little cabins though they are older and a bit musty-smelling. Our room was hot, no air conditioning but there was a fan. We left the room open to air out for awhile. The bed was not very comefortable and I would advise you to bring your own pillow for comfort. Overall, a good bargain for the summer, but nothing fancy.

  • Liked — The customer service and complimentary breakfast, water bottles, and ski lift tickets.
  • Disliked — The hard bed.

First, the good:
Very friendly man at the front desk; easy to check-in that evening; ate dinner at the restaurant and had a good steak; good continental breakfast the next morning; personable and friendly restaurant staff.

Now, the bad:
When we first opened the door to our room (unit 6), the smell was awful and reminded us of a musty, stinky odor ... we had to leave the door open for a while to air out the room; found old M&Ms on the floor and a lot of small debris indicating that the carpet hadn't been vacuumed in a while; the tub was filthy, and I had to run a towel along the rim (the towel literally turned black); pulled the blinds open on the window and the sill was covered in dust and dead flies; the shower / tub was raised off the floor, and if you were 6' tall or taller, you would have to stoop over to keep from hitting your head on the ceiling (I am 5'8" and the ceiling was only 4" above my head); the water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent, as I had to stand directly under the shower head and let the water dribble over me; you had to flush the toilet two or three times after using it because the flushing pressure wasn't enough to get even a small amount of toilet paper down on the first flush.

Overall, I was disappointed and would not stay there again. I chose this place to be close to the Arizona Snowbowl Ski Area, but next time would opt to make the additional drive into Flagstaff.

This place was a pleasant surprise. Very clean. Rooms were small but adequate and looked newly renovated. Staff was very friendly. The heater was a thermostatically controlled gas fired pot belly stove. Nice for atmosphere. We had a full hot breakfast buffet and got half priced lift tickets at Snow Bowl Overall, a great value and a nice room for a short stay.

  • Liked — Clean, located near ski slopes
  • Disliked — Room was small, only one nightstand

Stayed 2 nights on a room and lift ticket package. Our room was small but adequate. Nothing fancy but an excellent value if you are on a budget and just want to ski and simple digs are OK. Minor plumbing problems were fixed promptly. Very basic continental breakfast was included. A bit noisy. Closest accomodations to the ski area and about 5 miles from town.

The good first: Rooms are large. You get a free breakfast buffet. You get bottled water with the room.

The bad: Where do I start? When we arrived at 9:30 PM and opened our door to our room a gust of hot musty air welcomed us. It was 67 degrees outside and probably 90 degrees inside. So, we had to leave the door and windows open to cool the place off. Finally around 3:00 AM it got cool. You'd think the staff would recognize this and at least open a window to rooms that will be occupied that day. The room that we were put in was cabin #3. We were so close to the main road that you hear everything all day and all night long. There are two other "cabins" down the walk way from this room and you hear EVERYTHING that goes on in rooms 1 & 2. We were so lucky to have a family next to us who didn't care about any one else and let their kids run up and down the walkway in front of all the other rooms at 6:00 A.M. screaming and crying. When we mentioned this to the front desk, they really didn't care. They just advised us that they were staying for another night. The beds are hard as rocks, they squeak with any movement and the pillows are falling apart. The rooms are so run down. Seriously need to remodel. The bathroom....I had to wipe hair out of the tub and the sink. The floor was so disgusting. We had to keep our shoes on all the time due to the hair, dirt and whatever else was on the floor. There were dirty towels still in the bathroom from the previous guests! The staff was nice but didn't really care if you had issues. They got your money so there really isn't much you can do. We heard another couple telling the Manager that there was blood all over their sheets. Management just told them to put the maid sign out and she would change them. This place is in such a nice and peaceful area and it is sad that it hasn't been kept up. The restaurant staff is nice. The food is okay. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and good for free. We had lunch there and it wasn't really that good. A little pricey for lunch. But if you don't want to drive to town, it will do.
