“Monte Vista with Humphrey Bogart”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I decided to stay at a Historial landmark hotel because they usually have a lot of character and can claim to be haunted. The rooms are named after movie stars. Monte Vista is right in the middle of downtown Flagstaff. The rooms are adequate and beds were comfortable, bathrooms antiquated(it is an old hotel) but functional and clean. There is a bar open to the street on the first floor, and with our windows open because the weather was perfect, we could hear a lot of talking related to the World Cup. The lobby was reminiscent of old times. Various artists paintings are for sale and displayed in cafe area. I was able to buy some Day of the Dead cards from the artist as she changed out her paintings. I will back for another stay.

Room Tip: I would pick one that is not street side if you are concerned about the noise or bring some ear plug...

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way to New Mexico from Vegas, and loved it. Each room has their individual characteristics. We stayed in the Freddie Mercury room. It overlooked the street, and the bed was really comfortable. There are also several cool ghost stories about the hotel, which definitely adds excitement to your stay. Make sure you check out the Cocktail Room on their bottom floor. Great dive bar with pool tables, video games, and live entertainment.

Room Tip: The Freddie Mercury room overlooks the street and has a super comfortable bed.

We loved our experience at the Monte Vista in downtown Flagstaff. The decor is wonderful, definitely more vintage in character. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, especially, Dean, the Barista. Will be visiting again soon!

Room Tip: The rooms on the higher floors are probably the best due to the street and lounge activity.

Of course the 'Old world' charm of this hotel means it is cared for and beautifully furnished. We stayed in Clark Gables suite overlooking the street and found the room warm, cosy with a great ambience. Wonderful, helpful staff and a great location in the centre of town.

Room Tip: Definitely recommend a suite

The Hotel Monte Vista is a reminder of an elegant time. The rooms are small but clean and nicely maintained. The girl at the front desk was very helpful and was able to recommend restaurants and drinks...exactly what you would hope for. We were told the hotel was haunted but the ghosts did not disturb our sleep. It is a lovely place in a beautiful city.

No, we didn't see a ghost! The rooms are small but really cool if you like historic hotels. We really enjoyed our stay at the Monte Vista. My husband and I also had a cocktail in the bar there. It was quaint. Totally worth staying here if you find yourself in Flagstaff.

We loved the charm of this historic hotel, and the idea of all the old film stars having stayed there. We had a back room so no problem with noise. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful, recommended a wonderful restaurant which could walk to for dinner. Coffee was good in the downstairs bar. Only improvement could be a more ventilated bathroom - it was very small and fogged up quickly due to no ventilation in there. Water pressure etc all fine. Not expensive. It was nice to be able to open the window and have fresh air, after having stayed in many places where this is not possible.
