“Home Away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

We had the pleasure of staying at Starlight Pines B&B on our May anniversary trip. It was our last stop in the "wilds" before returning to Las Vegas for our return flight home to Camano Island, WA. We were delighted to find this gem of a B&B after many days on the road through the Canyons of Utah and Arizona. Richard and the pups were the perfect hosts, our room was delightful and the breakfast was divine.

Even though we arrived earlier than planned, Richard was gracious and invited us to enjoy the cozy front porch while he put the finishing touches on our room. The recommendations for our dinner options were wonderful; it was hard to make a choice, but it turns out that Richard and Michael's favorite spot was ours too!

If I was ever to own a B&B, Starlight Pines would be a great model to emulate.

Like antiques? How about little pooches who will meet you at the door? Maybe you'd like some grapefruit brûlée with bananas and brown sugar for a little morning delight before egg and cheese soufflé? Fresh brewed coffee sipped with a good book on a swing on a wrap around porch, the early morning sun warming your back. Listen for the rattle of ravens, the small hammers of nearby woodpecker carpenters and smell the fresh pine needles. Inhale--exhale. Richard, B&B host extrodinairre, will make your stay perfect. How about an evening reservation at Josephine's? Menus are all on hand to help you decide. Later, soak in a claw-foot tub and slip under the covers for a sweet night's sleep. You have no worries.

Room Tip: If you'd rather no climb stairs, take the Art Deco room.

The Starlight Pines is located in a majestic old mansion a few minutes outside of the town of Flagstaff. There are parking spots on the premises. We stayed in the Art Déco room on the first floor. This room is spacious, has high ceilings and is nicely decorated. The same is true for the living and the dining room. There is also a nice front porch.
The Starlight Pines is the ideal base to explore the area. There are so many things to do. Richard, the innkeeper, was extremely helpful and provided us with a lot of very useful information about the sights. Unfortunately we had not enough time to explore it all.
The breakfast was home made and absolutely delicious! The best breakfast we've ever had in a B&B.
We enjoyed our stay the Starlight Pines B&B very much!

My husband and I LOVED Starlight Pines B&B! We stayed for three nights, and had a wonderful time. The house is gorgeous, our room was beautiful and incredibly comfortable, the food was delicious, and the owners were very kind, funny and helpful. There is TONS to do in the area, great food, beautiful scenery, national monuments etc. In addition to Flagstaff, we spend time in Sedona, Jerome, the Grand Canyon etc. I see a few comments about noise from the train, but to be honest I didn't even notice it. My husband said he heard it a few times, but it didn't bother him, he thought it was a nice addition to the ambiance. All that to say, we loved Starlight Pines, we had a wonderful time and a fun, romantic anniversary trip. Highly recommend it!

I have stayed here before with my wife. This time around, my son and I stayed two nights at the Starlight Pines, while on a trip to Northern Arizona for some hiking in the area. As always, it was a relaxing stay and a perfect compliment to the outdoor activities of the day!! The room was extremely comfortable and the French Toast in the morning was fabulous!! Looking forward to my next stay!!

Even innkeepers enjoy getting away to a B & B, and as Tucson B & B owners, we selected Starlight Pines (having read its glowing reviews on TripAdvisor). The Peacock Room was very pleasant and spacious for our three night stay. Wi fi helped us keep tab on business, but we found plenty of time to relax, as well. Great location with neighborhood and nearby walking trails available. Each bath has a shower in addition to the vintage style tub. Walnut Canyon was a great explore, with steps galore. The Lowell Observatory was suprisingly captivating. Our trip to the Grand Canyon, with a stop enroute at the Little Colorado Gorge Overlook, was wonderful, until our vehicle "became ill". Richard answered the call with referral to an automotive service location. He also graciously accommodated an early breakfast, and a "to go" breakfast for a very early departure! It was Michael's day off, so we had some great conversation with him as well. Best wishes Richard and Michael!

Room Tip: Peacock Room faces Lockett, but road noise is not a problem with closed windows. The trains do not...

Not our first stay and not our last. Richard an Michael have the nicest B & B I've stayed in while traveling to Flagstaff. Don't miss this treat! Great breakfast, wonderfully decorated rooms and the perfect hosts. I can't say enough. Try it, you won't be disappointed!
