“Fun for families”

I was surprised how much my 7 year old enjoyed the ruins. Make sure your kids see the blowhole at the main ruins site.

“Carefully excavated gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

The Wupatki monument and Sunset crater national monument can be seen in the same day. It is just a short drive north of flagstaff off of hwy 89. Make sure you go when it isn't too windy and cold, it gets quite chilly here in November. There are a couple good hikes along the way also prior too the sunset monument. Make sure you have 3-4 hours to completely enjoy the area and take some pictures.

“A must-see if you're in Flagstaff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011 via mobile

We stopped at Sunset Crater and Wupatki on the way to the Grand Canyon after stopping at Walnut Creek. It was very interesting, and a great example of Indian ruins and artefacts. My kids (6 and 7) loved it,too. At Wupatki there is a blow hole that they thought was awesome. It's a vent in the ground that blows air continuously. Amazing place.

“Nice surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2011

Been to Walnut Canyon and Montezuma's Castle in the area and these ruins were totally different and worthwhile. A lot of history, some things left unknown and unexcavated. Lovely scenery. I was pleasantly surprised. You can walk right up to almost all the ruins and truly get an idea of how life might have been there.

“A lost way of life”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2011

Some interesting ruins. The most interesting was next to the visitors' centre. A bit over-restored in parts. If you are travelling to Flagstaff from the north of Arizona, then it is a good detour.
