“Serene retreat in a large homey cabin - would go back again and again.”

My husband and I recently were visiting our daughter in Scottsdale and took the 3 hour drive up to Flagstaff to go to The Shooting Star Inn since my husband is very interested in astronomy. The Inn has 3 nice rooms and a large gathering room which is open to the kitchen. Tom Taylor the owner/inn keeper/cook/teacher and entertainer all rolled into one couldn't have been more welcoming. This is a very laid back casula b&b and you will most likely find Tom in a cozy flannel shirt and crocs while making dinner or playing his guitar for you. He and my husband discussed interplanetary stuff that was way over my head while I read by the cozy woodburner.
This b&b is in a great location for those of you planning a trip up to the Grand Canyon which is about 60 miles away. A trip into "town" Flagstaff is also well worth doing.
I have nothing but good things to say about our visit to The Shooting Star Inn and will return again someday soon.

“Hard to describe how WONDERFUL this place is!!!”

Let me start by saying that Tom Taylor is the nicest, most gracious host I have ever had at any place of business!!! He went way out of his way at all times to make sure me and my husband had everything we expected and much more that we didn't expect. The inn is huge. The rooms were warm, spacious, sparkling clean and beautifully decorated. After our dinner of steak and chicken (which was gourmet quality)- he even sang and played guitar for us. The black skies and his computerized telescope are nearly impossible to describe to you. We saw Saturn and it's rings and 4 of it's moons!! For breakfast the next morning, we had coffee made in Italian percolators; and the pancakes and yogurt were perfect! The inn is filled with art (photos, quilts, music) and love. How anyone could even begin to speak poorly about Tom or this inn boggles my mind. Everyone should get lucky enough to be able to spend a night with Tom in his beautiful home in the mountains.

“A Gem of a Hideaway”

Apply all the superlatives and the cliches about a haven of peace, a magical experience - the Shooting Star Inn has it all.

We spent 4 nights here, exploring the gorgeous winter skies under the guidance and enthusiasm of Tom, and enjoying his hospitality in a beautiful part of Arizona. Perfectly positioned to dip into Flagstaff for some quirkiness, or head up to the Grand Canyon on a day trip, and then return to the cozy log cabin for an evening of great conversation or solitude. Wine, music, fireside relaxing, reading, more astronomy, however your mood takes you. Wake up to crisp, magnificent sunrises as you look out of your window and plan your day to the smell of fresh coffee brewing.

Tom doesn't advertise, and he doesn't need to ... like-minded people will tell their friends about this little gem of a getaway, and Tom is the perfect host to make you want to return again and again.

We booked dinner bed and breakfast with an astronomy experience We had a wonderful stay. Tom was most hospitable and we truly felt welcome in his home. The astronomy experience was amazing. I even saw my first shooting star. Every evening I now look out for Jupiter and think of its four moons! My husband had a wonderful time playing guitar with Tom and we will remember our stay at a very special place.

“a unique bed and breakfast”

tom taylor was a gracious, welcoming host at the beautiful lodge he built himself with the help of friends. The valley setting is a prime location for observing spectacular sunrises, starry skies and the Milky Way, and elk grazing outside your door.
You are also at a midway point to explore south to the Sedona area and north to the Grand Canyon.
I enjoyed a night viewing of the sky through Tom's large outdoor celestial telescope. After breakfast one morning he treated us to a Cat Stevens song on his guitar. I wouldn't hesitate to return to Shooting Star Inn and highly recommend it as a special experience.
