“Nice personal touch.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2009

The other reviews on this website are a bit harsh, in my opinion. The internet sucked and I didn't come in for breakfast, but the rooms were very clean and comfortable. It was cheap, but all things considered, pretty good value.

The highlight of my stay was the lady on the front desk when I checked, who was very friendly and helpful. I felt like my business was very well appreciated, and that I was helping a local small business as opposed to buying into a global corporate chain like I would have if I had stayed at an Econolodge or a Comfort Inn.

We reserved our room by phone 1 day in advance with a credit card but paid cash for the room upon arrival. They charged our credit card TWICE, anyway, and tried to claim they didn't. They later told us that only the manager could reverse the charges, but that the manager "is scarcely here". They wouldn't even give us the "manager's" name. Also; our room hadn't been cleaned after the previous occupancy. There were used towels on the floor and the bed was not made. We asked for new towels after placing the used ones outside the door - where they stayed until we checked out the next day.
These hotel operators are not only discourteous and inept - they are also dishonest and thieving. We were told that the Days Inn on Route 40 is owned by the same party, although our stay there was fine - the difference between "Knight" and "Day".

We spent three nights at Knights Inn, Flagstaff - 23,24,25 December. Our daughter and family joined us on 25th. On the whole the accommodation was adequate and very convenient for the railway station and Grand Canyon. Rooms were warm BUT there were cracked tiles in the shower, a bed-light was ripped out - despite reporting this, it was never fixed. The manager kept our daughter waiting with her children before letting her into the room despite having been advised of their arrival beforehand. The breakfast is a bit of a joke - very cramped and little selection.

I will never stay here again. The noon check in is a joke. I had booked a king room and ended up with a queen one as it was either that or sit for over an hour. The wi-fi is horrible, it cuts out every few minutes. That's not wi-fi. There was a coffee maker in the room but no way to get tea. Not everyone likes coffee.

we stayed at knights inn for 1 day because, in the internent it said that they give you a ''CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST''!And a coffee maker in the room, they didnt even have any shampoo in the bathroom, and also that the check in was at 12:00.
And everything was a LIE!WHEN When we whent to go eat breakfast they only had orange juice, very bad tasting coffee, and a slice of bread for sandwitches. And after 9 there was no more.
the service lady had a bad attitude! IT WAS A VERY BAD PLACE TO STAY FOR THE NIGHT!

I booked two non-smoking rooms. Instead I received two smoking ones. The owner tried to lie saying those were non-smoking, and the ashtrays in the rooms were put due to a leak from the ceiling. There was no Wi-Fi connection, no promised complimentary Continental breakfast, no hairdryers. Cheap as it seemed the staying was awful. Would not recommend staying there even for one night

We just spent one night at the Knights Inn - it was a first and last time experience. I booked on-line through Wyndhamworldwide.com reservations. Stated check-in was noon. We arrived shortly after noon and were promptly told by the desk clerk that they were short-handed on maid service and no rooms were available and none would be ready until 3pm. As we were leaving the office, another couple arrived without reservations, inquiring about room availability. Somehow the desk clerk magically was able to produce a room for them on the spot.

We returned after 3pm and the desk clerk gave a blank look and asked if we had a reservation. She did produce a room for us and proceeded with check-in. She had some difficulty running our credit card and asked for a different card. The problem was not the card but her lack of understanding in processing. We suggested she try again and viola – the charge went through. I noticed that the charge was higher than the guaranteed reservation amount. When I asked why, she said they charge $3.89 for utility charge. WHAT?? Since when are utilities EXTRA AMENITIES?? Obviously a guaranteed room rate with this hotel is meaningless.

Our non-smoking room #107 smelled of smoke and unidentified foul odors (we suspect animal urine). There was nothing new about our room except the wrapped roll of toilet paper in the closet-sized bathroom. Tiles were missing from the shower ledge. On a happy note, the water pressure in the shower was quite good.

Out of 3 lamps near the bed, only 1 worked. I found an employee outside and showed him one of the broken lamps. Nearly an hour later he returned with a “fixed” version, complete with piecemeal masking tape repairs. Lighting over the vanity sink was extremely dim. The bed was hard like a rock, but they did have plenty of pillows.

Ice bucket was provided, although ice was available only through a vending machine. Advertised continental breakfast was non-existent but large dispensers were present in the office. We left after 8am and the office was still closed.

We did not have high expectations for the Knights Inn and found they delivered even less. It seems that Flagstaff has no shortage of marginal hotels run by owners-in-residence. This is just one more. Lesson learned – never again. Once was more than enough.
