“Near motels and campus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

The food and atmosphere were great, neat and clean, did not see any critters. Menu has good selection, and the wait staff are knowledgeable about menu, staff appears to be mostly college students, as NAU is very close by. Reasonable prices, and decent Maragritas!

“Better than expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012 via mobile

We choose this place because it was close to our hotel. Wasn't busy at 3:30 on a saturday. Chips are free and you get pick your own salsa from the bar containing 4 different salsas and other items. Order the porblano mushroom and spinach enchiladas with black beans and rice. Was very good. The prices were also very good. Two sodas and two dinners was about 20 bucks. Will go agian before we leave

“Great Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

Not sure why they aren't as busy as some of the other restaurants in the area????? A little tough to find as it is located in a strip mall and very unassuming from the outside. But the salsa bar is very good and the food is delicious.

“Favorite mexican in Flag”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

So, I've lived in Flag for almost 10 years, have finally been to most of the mexican places in town, and truly don't get why this place doesn't rate higher. This place is great; service is always friendly, the salsa bar is the best, the food is great- from the mole and carne asada to the sopapillas and horchata. We have a number of good mexican restaurants in Flag, but I have to rate this one as the best.

“Why aren't they more popular?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012

In a strip mall and the decor is somewhat uninspired, but there's plenty of room and best of all it is rarely crowded. There are two Mexican places in town with Salsa Bars (El Capitan and Salsa Brava) and the one here is by far the best. The green tomatillo salsa is hot, and very fresh, with just the right amount of tart. The pico de gallo and related mild salsa are both very fresh and basic with the freshly chopped tomatoes, the Salsa patron has the smokey flavor of chipotle peppers--all are quite good. Best of all, the salsa bar has a big bowl of chopped cilantro so you can load your food up. The menu isn't inspired, but everything is done well. One time the Carnitas were overcooked and dry. I told the waitress and they were promptly replaced with another dish. They have good margaritas as well. Overall, this is my go-to restaurant in flagstaff.
