“Too Bad Best Western”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2008

Trying to check into this motel began with problems. The clerk took forever even though I was the only person in the lobby.

The weather was snow and ice and I was given a room on the second floor (outside stairwells). The room was old and needed serious remodeling. On trying to get some ice, I found that the light was out. This was a problem in that the machine was located in a long hall with doors at both ends. I called the front desk and was told to use the first floor ice machine (again, outside stairwell with snow and ice).

I took a shower that night and found that the drain was clogged to the tub filled with water. The next morning the tub was still filled with water.

The housekeeping crew began work before my wake-up call (8:30 AM) and where very loud.

I used to like Best Western but at $70.00 per night, I'll pass on the Best Western Chaffin Inn.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way back home (Chicago) from a trip to Florida. The hotel was very nice and we were quite impressed. Previously we had stayed for a week at a Disney hotel so needless to say, our standards were pretty high. The hotel was older and the rooms were not huge. It might be a tight fit for a family, but it was perfect for the two of us. The location was great: right off the highway, plenty of places to eat and close to Nashville. The best part was inside the room. Everything was brand new. The bed (including the bedding and mattress), the chairs, the table, the desk, the nightstands, the dresser, the armoire, even the the bathroom sink and the cabinet the housed the mini fridge and microwave all matched. Everything was a darker cherry wood with deep grey granite tops. It was beautiful. And there was a large flat screen on the wall. We didn't want to leave! We have already decided we would go out of our way to stop at this hotel and were inspired to plan a driving trip through TN for an excuse to stay here. If you on the raod and need a place to stop, this will definately make your trip more pleasant!

  • Liked — The beautiful furniture in the room
  • Disliked — The bathroom was a little small, no big deal for us though

I thought the Best Western in Murfreesboro TN was a good place to stay for a night. I booked the room on the Best Western website. I got the AARP rate of $58.50 for a requested king smoking room on the first floor. When we arrived I was told there was not a room like that available and we were given a double queen room instead. No big deal. I didn't notice any faults with the room itself. Standard chain hotel decor. Bed was comfortable and pillows were ok. The blanket however was worn and shabby--the old kind with the satin binding and wooly appearence. Yuk. It did appear to be clean. The only thing that I saw that I felt like needed to be corrected was the shower/tub surround. It was badly streaked from mostly likely some kind of cleaner.
This hotel is crammed in among lots of other hotels and businesses just off the interstate. If you want a peaceful relaxing holiday type hotel--this ain't it. Bad noise outside, but luckily the walls must be sound proof.
The "breakfast" was nothing to brag about. Standard fare of sweets and more sweets. There was instant oatmeal and boiled eggs to compliment the sweets.
All in all...it was not that bad and I thought a good value for the money. And it was in the same area as the most expensive hotels. They all seem to be in the same location--the same interstate exit.

The man at the front desk was terribly rude. I asked about the rates and he started comparing the hotel to a steak house and how you wouldnt leave one steak house and expect to get the same price at another steak house...what? I left to find another hotel with better customer service.

This Best Western seemed to be a low scale motel. The room was tidy, but tight. The shower/bathroom is out dated and uninviting. The bed linen is very thin with lumpy pillows. The bed was comfortable, though.

I think a one night stay is tolorable if you are passing through Murfreesboro and don't want to spend $$$ on one of the newer hotels. BW Chaffin Inn is however, in a great location for a variety of restaurants and shopping.

We stayed here in March and again in April while a family member had surgery at a nearby hospital. Nice, clean, quiet hotel with the extras including microwave and refrigerator. We got the Jacuzzi room and it was worth every bit of extra money after being on the road traveling. Warning the second time we tried to book online ahead of time. I didn't see how to request a specific room and called the number for all Best Westerns. We were told the jacuzzi room was booked and we were pushed to book another room. We refused. When we got to the hotel, not only was the jacuzzi room NOT booked, but they had two of the rooms instead of one. Don't necessarily believe what you are told through the 800 numbers. This is a great hotel and we will definitely stay there again if we are in the area.

  • Liked — Jacuzzi Room is fantastic!
  • Disliked — Parking could be a tad better.
