I had read that Olive Garden was updating their menu, so we went to give it a try. We were near this location, and fortunately we walked in just before the dinner rush. This may be a chain restaurant, but it's a busy restaurant in this location during the weekend dinner hours.
We started off trying something off their new menu with the crispy asparagus. It was a lovely addition to the menu, and you receive enough of this small plate appetizer to share between a table of four. I wouldn't order it again, because it was too greasy even for a fried dish, but I applaud the direction of the menu changes.
For entrees, we all ordered something different - grilled chicken flatbread, garlic rosemary chicken with mashed potatoes, fettuccine alfredo, and ravioli di portobello. The fettuccine came out perfectly. The ravioli was well done as well, although that one had a very small portion size. The flatbread was fine, but the grilled chicken didn't taste grilled. The garlic rosemary chicken was missing its illustrated rosemary, but there was plenty of garlic and fresh basil. The dish was swimming in sauce, though, which was unexpected since the menu emphasized the grilled chicken portion of the dish. It just wasn't what was expected from the description under lighter fare. The salad and breadsticks were the same as always.
We finished off with one dessert for four people, the black tie mousse cake. It was fine, and the presentation was quite nice.
Our server was very friendly and attentive. The entire restaurant staff was super nice, even as the restaurant grew busier and busier on a weekend.
Bottom line - I don't eat here often, but I'd probably order the old menu items over the new ones at this point. And if you want the salad and breadsticks and usual pasta fare from Olive Garden, this location is a great place to enjoy it. Like I said in the title, the service was fantastic.
