The Room (210): The room is probably average in size. I ended up with a room with two doubles. The room has a nice sized refrigerator as well as a microwave. The office desk is a bit small and the room has a 32-inch flat screened TV. There’s also free Internet access but I only had 2 bars of signal in this room. The rug is in decent shape. The bathroom is tiny and the shower head is a bit low so if you stand six feet and over you’ll have to duck to get your head wet. There is no closet so the ironing board and iron are on the wall by the window. A bit of an odd location since there’s room right outside the bathroom entrance.
The Lobby: The lobby is laid out in a nice format and nicely decorated. The reception was friendly and efficient. But I have to say it is a very interesting contrast between the lobby and the rest of the hotel! The lobby is modern and chandeliers hanging, lovely pictures; it looks inviting but once you leave the lobby? Let’s just say that the rest of the hotel desperately needs updating to match. After leaving the lobby, I thought I was in a Motel 6; not to belittle other hotels mind you. I’m reminded when you visit somebody house who did some renovations but only enough money have a killer kitchen but the rest of the house is bland. The hallways? Meh. The walls are undecorated, flat paint, carpets worn down and featureless reminds me of an old 1980s Army barracks.
Breakfast Kitchen: They have the general hot/cold breakfast room. Unfortunately the juice machine was out of operation and they didn’t provide any other beverage than milk, coffee and water. Oh, and the microwave was out of order as well. The breakfast area was neat and tidy and just as about as modern as the lobby. The staff was friendly and very cheerful.
Building: The outside looks taken care off. The grass cut, bushes trimmed nice with some added flowerbeds. As I mentioned earlier, the inside needs renovations pretty bad. The gym has an elliptical, treadmill and a bike; period. The business Center has a small desk with a PC and printer.
Location: The hotel is very easy to find and visible from the main road; I found it using Google Maps on my cell phone with no problem. You get a discount at the Japanese restaurant that’s walking distance right to the side of the hotel; just show your room key. Speaking of room keys the one I received is one of the most unique keys I’ve ever seen! There are many restaurants within ½ mile from the hotel: McAlisters Deli, Rooster’s Lone Star, Ponderosa Steakhouse, Cathay Asian Bistro, Krystal, Arby’s a Taste of Thai Restaurant just to name a few. Nothing much more than that
Cons: The interior needs some serious updating/modernization outside of the lobby.
Final Thought: A very decent hotel if you’re on your way to a vacation spot and need someplace to crash for the night before continuing to your destination. The lobby is very nice be the rest of the hotel looks more like an inexpensive motel. At least does smell nice when I was walking to my room!
