Owner description: The tour will take you 300 feet below the earth into the pitch blackness old-time miners, some as young as seven or eight, had to face. While you won’t have to deal with poisonous gases, you will feel the chill. The Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour is open from April 1st through November 30th and is closed only on Thanksgiving Day.

“One of the Best Attractions Anywhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

The Coal Mine Tour is a must see - even for folks who are not fans of Tourist Attractions. Very knowledgeable guides - this is a fascinating part of American History. The photos of the young children employed in the mines, and the sections that show actual work spaces - all are very poignant. This is one of the best - and in the temperature is always around 50 degrees any time of the year - so in the summer when it is blistering hot outside, being a jacket.

“Chance to see a real coal mine - educational”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Great for families. Takes about 2 hrs all together. See a real coal mine (you go down into the mine on a coal car) A real retired miner tells the stories. Been down twice - might go again!

“A great time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

We weren't sure what to expect, but we were not disappointed. Our 11 yo said it was the best tour he ever had. It's a real glimpse into another time and place. The underground tour is terrific - worth the trip.
