“Quick stop in Springfield, MA after Six Flags”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Great stay at a location very close to Six Flags New England.
Check-in was tough and they didn't have the typical 'Rewards' carpet - so it was a bit of a mad house trying to get the desk staffs attention. Took me more than 15 minutes to check-in. Overall stay was nice, we used the pool which was quite clean.

2 years ago I rated this an excellent hotel and the following is still true:
* Friendly staff , especially at the front desk
* Quiet, very comfortable and clean room. ( but getting a bit old looking)
* Nice Pub, reasonable prices

The negatives on my current visit.... Fitness room could use a few newer machines. It's now $15.00 a day to park the car.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel the room was great. I could have melted in our King size bed it was amazingly comfortable. The location was great. I was however not impressed with the parking fees to park in their hotel parking lot and the charges for wifi and the fact that there is no continental breakfast. I would have been fine with the room being a little bit more expensive then having to pull out the extra money for all the extras. I was never told about the parking fees and felt that it was snuck in there. It was nice having the on site dining options. I would have given 5 stars had it not been for the extra charges.

This hotel didn't have valet parking, which I found very inconvenient and frustrating. There was a charge for room internet, which I don't understand why people charge for wifi anymore. Just up the rate of the room and provide it. I just kinda felt nickeled and dimed. The breakfast buffet was fine and the sports bar was nice for dinner/drinks without having to leave the location.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times, but hadn't felt compelled to write a review until today.
Room:
Upon entry, the room was clean, inviting, and smelled fresh. (mildew smell is one of my major pet peeves) The room had a mini-fridge and a coffee maker, which I appreciate. The shower and toilet are separate from the sink/vanity which is great when two people are getting ready at the same time, and the shower has decent water pressure. Quick note: be sure to request a room OPPOSITE the highway side. It's much quieter.
Amenities I used:
The fitness room is adequate, with a good number of machines/equipment and the treadmills have TVs.
Service:
My husband's phone call to room service was, in his words, "extremely pleasant" and the woman who delivered the food was off-the-charts friendly and helpful. We were very pleased with our meals.
Parking:
There is a garage adjacent to the hotel which is very convenient. I believe there is also valet, if one desires.

In summary, this is a solid full-service Marriott for the business traveler.

I stayed here recently for business. The lobby is nice. The room was obviously older and in need of some updating. The older Marriott seems to have the smallest shower/toilet rooms. The room also smelled a little funky. The bed was comfy. Because this is in the city there is a parking garage attached which you can access with your room card. The fitness center is okay. It has some treadmills, bikes & elliptical. There are a couple weight machines. There was a traveler photo on this site for this hotel with a large fitness room-that is NOT at this hotel. Also, this was my first time to Springfield. I would not plan on leaving the hotel to walk around after dark. There were a lot of bums and not a lot of other people out and about. The CVS next to the hotel was not even open at 7pm. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Being a weekly business traveler in the Northeast, I am frequently in the "middle of the road" hotels.

This one left something to be desired in the room and staff department. Upon arrival, my boyfriend and I were told that the only room available had two double beds. I am 5'11 and my boyfriend is 6' so a double bed is hardly comfortable. The staff at the counter didn't even fake looking for another room.

When we called down later in the evening to ask for late checkout, I was given the "if I give it to you, everyone will ask for it" response. While I did eventually get a grace period of 1 pm (another staff member told me late checkout was 2), it was only given after I pushed back a little.

Also, is there really an issue of people going to floors/rooms they aren't supposed to? In order to get to your floor, you must swipe your room key, like in Vegas! Seems odd to me in Springfield, MA.

Since the room was meant to accommodate two, the bathroom sink had zero counter space for anything other than a toothbrush.

Room Tip: Make sure to request a King Bed at reservation!
