“Fun Sculpture Garden Surrounded by Excellent Museums”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2009

We visited the Memorial during our recent stay in Springfield to see the NCAA Division II Basketball Championship. This along with the adjacent Science and Connecticut Valley Museums more than adequately filled in time between basketball games at the nearby Mass Mutual Center. Our son really enjoyed the sculptures

“A nice rest stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2007

A nice place for a pit stop, but it was a little tricky to find. It is in a courtyard near the science museum. We stopped by on our way from Cooperstown to Boston.

“Oh, the places you'll go!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2005

The Dr. Seuss Memorial is a great little place to stop and experience a 3-D version of some of your favorite children's stories. The memorial is located in a small park in the middle of a complex of buildings known as the "Quadrangle" which includes some museums and attractions. These were closed on the morning that I was there, so I didn't get to see them. However, the Dr. Seuss park was delightful. You'll find statues of the Lorax, The Cat in the Hat, Theodore Giesel himself, Thing 1 and Thing 2, Sam I am, and a few other of your favorites. It's fun, it's whimsical, it's attractive, and it's well worth a stop if you're in that part of the state. However, if you had to drive quite a ways to get there like I did, you may want to schedule some other stops to make it worth the trip. We also went up north to Deerfield to the Yankee Candle store to make it a full day.
