“Delightful Hotel, Great staff, Bed the size of a planet!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2010

My wife and I stayed here on two separate nights during our Harley road trip through the Blue Ridge mountains.
The hotel looks impressive as you approach it from the main road, nice long sweeping drive up to the front.
Front of house staff were very welcoming and pointed out all the main facilities of the hotel.
We stayed in what they describe as one of their historic rooms, which are the smallest and cheapest they offer, believe me the room was not small!
In the room we had a sette, easy chair, foot stool, table, two wardrobes, chest of drawers. TV and a huge bed.
At the rear of the building there is a really nice pool and hot tub, which was great in the high temperature we experienced.
The only disappointment was the Speakeasy bar/restaurant. The food was typical pub grub and was at best average and on our second visit could only be described as poor.
It's also expensive and does not offer good value for money.
The Speakeasy aside, it was a great place to stay.

You drive up to this Inn and say wow! It is beautiful outside with a view of the mountains. Then you walk inside and say wow again. The curved staircase, the gorgeous adornments, it is absolutely beautiful. You are greeted at the door coming and going. THe staff is always smiling and where ever they are standing - front desk, bar, restaurant - they say hello. The breakfast buffet was delicious and very reasonably priced. I was surprised that I could get this decor, service, food for $150/night. We stayed in a Historic Room which is the basic room and it was pretty standard but still had a view of the mountains. Closet was very small but otherwise no complaints.

We stayed at the Mimslyn Inn for our 1st anniversary. The hotel is set back on a hill and it is beautiful. There is a porch the length of the front of the hotel and they have chairs available to sit and enjoy the evening air. We had a regular room and it was rather small. No more than 2 people could fit in there. The room was clean, bed comfy and they even had robes in the closet to use. Wine is left in the room with glasses. It is not complimentary however, so be sure not to open as you will be charged. We bought our own wine and used the ice holder to chill. The bathroom was very, very small. Only one person can fit in at a time. The pedastal sink was charming, but I'm used to having a vanity to put toiletries on. We had breakfast in Circa 21 and it was delicious. I believe this is the 1st hotel where breakfast did not cost an arm and a leg. Everyone was nice and helpful here. We had dinner at the Brookside Restaurant because we had heard that the Obama's had eaten there. It was o.k, but nothing to brag about. Jellystone Park is about 10 minutes away. Luray Caverns was about 5 minutes away so we checked out and headed over there. You have to visit the Caverns. It's an experience you wont soon forget. We would definitely return to the Mismlyn Inn. It may very well be the best hotel in Luray.

My wife and I decided to take a leisurely drive this past weekend and made a reservation at the Mimslyn Inn and what a pleasant experience it was. We had stayed here more then 30 years ago as yound newlyweds so what we thought would be a walk down memory lane turned into a five star experience. We made a reservation for the four course wine dinner which was truly excellent in every way possible....outstanding service, perfect food, incredible wines and a truly memorable occasion. This is a gem of a facility and we would highly recommend.

My husband surprised me with a getaway to Luray for my birthday last weekend. We had the Explorer package and stayed in a 3rd floor suite. We arrived early to pick up our tickets to Luray Caverns and we were able to check in to our room. Our suite was beautiful, we had a fabulous view of the mountains and the gift basket was a nice touch.
We enjoyed the pool in the afternoon - very refreshing! Our room was spacious, very clean, the linens and towels were soft and good quality. Our bed was soft and very comfortable. We didn't hear any noise in the hallway during the night -- we had a great night's sleep! Included in our package was breakfast for 2 at the Circa 31 restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and the buffet was delicious. We would definitely stay here again!

The Mimslyn Inn is beautiful! As you drive up the hill, you know that this is an Inn that caters to their clients. The employees cannot do enough for you. The food is quite good in both restaurants on the property. On Thursday evening in the Speakeasy Restaurant, we enjoyed dinner and listening to Accoustic Thunder. In the Circa 31 Restaurant, we had a wonderful buffett lunch for only $9.95. All in all, I highly recommend the hotel.

P.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt stayed here in the 1930's.

Wonderful older hotel that retains elegance and charm, yet rooms offer modern convenience and comfort. Very friendly staff, they truly care about your enjoyment and want to make sure you are comfortable.
